Meanwhile the outlaw US empire:

"So the U.S. faces a dilemma. On the one hand, if the U.S. responds to the debt “crisis” by embracing austerity, it will constrain aggregate demand, destroy jobs and erode economic capacity thereby repeating the self-inflicted wounds of past decades. If, on the other hand, it continues to expand public spending through the same dysfunctional institutions, it will also amplify wealth inequality and hasten the international move away from the dollar. That outcome doesn’t look like a default; it looks like long-term decline in U.S. living standards and economic power."

Putin’s been thinking legacy for several years. I suggest 2024’s Leap Day Speech where he lays out his vision to 2030 and beyond—most of which is now underway. Progress is very good as you read.

Yes Karl I've spent 20 years or so studying Russia's domestic economy as well as its major foreign JV infrastructure projects , even participating directly in 2 (mining & power). The US/UK sanctions hurt personally.

Still I won't waste my time throwing myself at the mercy of the British Court System for restriction of trade.

Trump's thinking: How do I get my flunkie, Kash Patel, to *convincingly* cover up my prominent starring role in the Epstein Files?

Either that, or pimping himself as a supposed global "peacemaker" for all the useful idiots ... er... supporters to believe.

Musk deleted his tweet, but the damage was already done. Trump was a swinger in his youth, so kompromat is quite likely and plentiful.

The only consistency in the whole charade of US politics is that the Bankers & Welfare Corporation Queens will be bailed out.

Everything else is monkey chatter!

Thanks Karl, for giving us a birdseye view how real governance works.

In the meantime, in the USSA the politicians are busy figuring out how to further fleece the general public to fund their favorite wars, while enriching themselves and the MIC.

They haven't genuinely funded a public works project since WWII, and it shows. Our transportation systems are failing nationwide except for any area that is infested with the parasite class, ie, politicians.

We have a railroad system that is the laughing stock of all modern nations. I've come to the conclusion that capitalism in the form as practiced in the USSA simply doesn't work. It enriches the few at the expense of many. I'm finally getting fiberoptic internet some time this year in rural Missouri. When my son was in Romania in 2007 they already had high speed internet at that time. The electrical power distribution system in the USA is a hodgepodge of slapped together systems by a whole slew of power companies that can go down in almost any storm.

We are a joke that's not funny and the only thing that can fix this country is a complete crash and revolution, followed by starting from scratch. Greedy and immoral and unethical people in high office, starting at the local level, are largely responsible for the condition we are in.

You cited many of the reasons we moved North to Oregon 22 years ago. It retains much of its communalistic nature, particularly in my county. And the people aren’t afraid to increase taxes on themselves to improve their condition, which is a political rarity nowadays.

Jealous!

They were already well on their way until the NATO encouragement for increased self-reliance. They are also still preparing for a war with NATO, since that body seems to be stupid and arrogant enough.
