Yellen Leaves China: China Warns East Asia
That’s the message of today’s Global Times editorial that specifically reads:
“East Asian states need to strengthen guard against 'great external threat'“
For those closely following global events, what/who constitutes the “external threat” is easy to answer; however, the editor is diplomatic by specifically refraining from naming NATO and only pointing to the Outlaw US Empire as the one to be wary of. (An explanation of my description of the USA can be found about 1/4th of the way into this article.) Here’s the main warning:
However, in the foreseeable future, the intensity of external forces' involvement in East Asian affairs will only increase rather than weaken, and their methods will be more covert and deceptive. Under the guise of promoting "cooperation" and "security," their actions involve decoupling, provoking friction, and fostering confrontation, in order to entice regional countries into joining the camp that seeks to contain and restrain China. All 10 ASEAN countries are China's neighbors, and the US not only aims to rope ASEAN as an organization in, but also adopts a strategy of divide and conquer among its member states. US officials have paid increasingly frequent visits to ASEAN countries, and the South China Sea issue has become the biggest leverage point for the US and its allies to exploit.
There’s more to the editorial which is in English and I urge reading as this is also another example of the increase in rhetoric being employed by China in its Info War with the Outlaw US Empire. As you’ll read, China sees the South China Sea situation very much under control of the region’s actors. One of the major reasons for China to develop, announce and begin to implement its Global Security Initiative is to neuter further attempts to destabilize the region and thus the world.
However, it should be noted that the Outlaw US Empire does have a Trojan Horse within the ASEAN in the Philippines since the election of the deposed dictator Marcos’s son, which some have called a soft coup. How the Philippine government is being used and the illegitimate instrument being waved at China is presented in this article, “ Philippines makes high-profile hype over illegal S.China Sea arbitration ruling attempting to recapture the US' hegemony in region: experts,” all of which is announced in the article’s beginning paragraphs:
Hyping again the illegal and invalid South China Sea arbitration on the occasion of its seventh anniversary, the Philippines on Wednesday made a high-profile declaration that the ruling has become "a beacon whose guiding light serves all nations," backed by support from the US and its allies in an attempt to recapture the US' hegemony in the region and increase China's diplomatic costs in handling the issue, experts said.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo described the country's move as taking "the path of principle, the rule of law and the peaceful settlement of disputes," Filipino media ABS-CBN News reported.
He said he hoped it would continue to serve as an inspiration for other countries involved in similar disputes, and that the ruling "stands as a beacon whose guiding light serves all nations."
The wording of this year's anniversary is strikingly different from previous years, experts said, as it showed the Philippines is growing tougher in its stance. It has for the first time described it as a "beacon" of international law practice, trying to put itself on the moral high ground and extend the issue from a legal one to a political one.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin slammed the statement by the Philippines side at Wednesday's press briefing, reiterating that China does not accept nor recognize the South China Sea Arbitration, nor accept any claim or act based on it, as the arbitration violated the principle of state consent and exercised its jurisdiction ultra vires and rendered an award in disregard of law.
The South China Sea Arbitration has been widely questioned by the international community. Many authoritative legal experts and scholars, including those from the Philippines, have openly pointed out the illegality and errors of the ruling, the spokesperson said, noting that China's position has received extensive support and understanding from over 100 countries.
The US and its allies including Canada, Japan and the EU, have chimed in to amplify the noise made by the Philippines. [My Emphasis]
In the last cited paragraph we can see some of the other external threats the editor mentioned. Unfortunately, far too many people are unaware of the reality of this issue and are thus easily swayed by the Establishment Narrative, which is just a further extension of a false narrative going back decades encompassing many different episodes and used to justify enacting the ever-changing rules of the rules-based order.
Many Filipinos are very unhappy that the Outlaw US Empire was allowed back into their nation, with the article’s closing paragraph citing the jeopardy they ‘re being placed in:
The US managed to expand access to four additional military bases in the Philippines in April to boost its military flexibility in possible war scenarios with China. Three of the sites are in the northern Philippines, including a naval base at Cagayan's Santa Ana, which is only about 400 kilometers from China's island of Taiwan. Another is on Balabac Island near the South China Sea, according to media reports.
The Taiwan issue will surely surface again as time rolls along. East Asia would be very wise to be wary and prohibit Neoliberal Parasites from gaining any foothold.
