A curious person would ask, Why are all those people crowded into that tiny space and held there against their will? And would then look to find a truthful answer to that simple question. The true answer would reveal a long and very sordid history that indicts the Imperialist powers for providing agency to Zionist promoters and then their Terrorists, which they thought they could control and use for their own geopolitical purposes. Now the situation is totally out of their control and a regional or wider war is threatened. The Zionists in control are zealots who aim to accomplish their zealotry no matter what. But the opposition to them within Occupied Palestine is almost as big, with both sides seeing the overall issue as existential--the issue at question does and doesn't concern the Palestinians; they are the definition of collateral damage in this case, which makes this also existential for them.
So, we have three factions all seeing what's happening as existential. How or is there even a way to solve the issue? Off to the side there exist legitimate non-Zionist Jewish immigrants to Palestine, but they have too small a political voice and aren't heard. Both Zionist factions favor liquidation of Palestinians but they disagree on its rapidity. Hamas as several have noted, has brought the issue to the block to be decided. IMO, either the Zionists announce the abortion of their project or there'll be a war whose outcome can't be foretold. Aborting the project allows for negotiations, but what the project has already accomplished would need to be vastly rolled-back for any modicum of justice to prevail. Given that probability, IMO the zealot Zionists will opt for war. Such an outcome is unwanted by Humanity, but the Zionists don’t give a daman about Humanity. They only care for themselves, and even then they still fight over spoils. True, this problem needed solving decades ago but that wasn’t allowed by the Outlaw US Empire in league with the Zionists. And so, Hamas has cut the knot and unleashed the underlying chaos. The readout issued by the Zionists of the phone conversation between Putin and Netanyahu seems to answer the question: The Zionists “won’t stop until it destroys the military and government capabilities of Hamas.” And to do that, the Zionists must invade Gaza and trip the Arab World’s Red Lines.

Great comment.
Things are coming to a head. It is unlikely that negotiations or UN conferences can resolve it. There needs to be enforcement mechanism - such as was not the case with the Minsk Accords. Given the UNSC is a bust with this issue - as it has been since its founding pretty much - something else will have to be formed so that an intervention can be administered, again with sufficient enforcement mechanisms in place. That moment will mark the formal beginning of the New Order because it will transition from aspiration, idea and agreement to something more clearly established. Such things usually take years; this one has to come together in the next few weeks, it seems.
Israel has been lawless for so many decades, they think they can pull off another attack on Gaza.
Israel didn't realize colonialization is no longer working,
The rest of the world isn't going to ignore genocide this time.
Hamas pulled off the big one: getting Israel, the US and Europe to overreact to evil by being evil.
