What a very constructive and civilized meeting to have. It's what we who have been trying to get a proportional representation electoral system in Canada hope for: where politicians of different parties co-operate for the sake of the greater good.

And then all four went out to Red Square to celebrate the Crimean Return 10th anniversary celebration, got on the platform and spoke to the assembled throng. United Russia indeed.

Good point, which is very different to how sectional interests are exploited in combined west systems. Given the parlous state of global finance capitalism there's a systemic resistance to anything that would resolve the key issue; who controls credit creation. Reforms where an oligarchic class rules are usually cosmetic.

Of course none of this will get an accurate reporting in the west as its completely outside the mental framework of the over-class.

You said this was a 45 minute "chat." The content, meaning and commitment in their speech is a thing to behold. One would have to consult the history books to find this kind of political dialogue in the US.

Our two parties are propaganda parties: their fight against each other has far too little connection to the needs of the country or our citizens.

It would be impossible for either party in the US to so clearly state goals of helping all the people and the entire country, much less for the two parties to sit down together and have an adult dialogue.

Is politics possible in the US?

As noted in many other comments, the West cannot understand what is in fact happening in Russia.

IMO, it seems to be a refusal to understand since reality jibes so sharply against the false reality mantra chanted since 1990. Fundamentally, neither faction of the Duopoly has the needs of citizens in their minds. There's no "positive governance" coming from the federal level; what little that exists comes at the state and local levels.

Once again an amazing meeting and transcript-thank you

- who could imagine this kind of post electoral meeting?....which raises points not often mentioned - the lack of doctors severe wage imbalances, rural exodus, the need for immigrants, the return of explicitly Soviet ideas and programs

And what wasn't said for the cameras we can only imagine. Perhaps Putin having done that twice will have established a precedent that will be repeated in 2030 with Putin as moderator.

I can only say amazing again - and that it is possible to witness only in RF what once in the west would have been taken for granted, or rather a form of which would have been taken for granted: local and general overall knowledge, and consultation

The devil is in the details, and I appreciate your efforts to share the full transcripts and speeches of VVP and each of the candidates. Instead of the confrontational and even combative tactics that are ‘par for the course’ in Western politics (and governance, sadly) each candidate spoke of the issues that their respective constituents felt were important and perhaps not adequately addressed in the current government. I didn’t see or read any disagreements - more like a sentiment of “yes, it’s a problem and we need to do more- here’s what we’ve been doing and let’s increase spending sensibly to bring greater relief to the citizens in need “. His ability to listen and respond with real and accurate facts and numbers is astounding- definitely the “sharpest knife in the drawer!”

As I wrote earlier, they all have the same aim along with the Russian people, a fact that's been evident for well over a year. In the latest Geopolitical Economy Hour, guest Mick Dunford, a China expert, used the following words to describe China's political-economy that also seem apt for Russia: "a planned rational state. I mean, right the way through, it has maintained a system of national five-year planning, and it also produces longer-term plans. But it’s a planned rational state that uses market instruments." https://michael-hudson.com/2024/03/china-local-flowers-bloom/

Xi emphasizes the great importance of people-to-people exchanges, and that's what we see Putin doing constantly.

Thanks for the link to Geopolitical Economy - I’m a regular fan and usually find it linked on Naked Capitalism- I’m sure it will show up soon but I’m planning to dig in right now!

It always appears on Hudson's website, which I prefer because no ads, etc.

I find it amazing how VVP will get involved with and discuss the most mundane matters.

Prostiticians in the west just parrot glib one liners and don't associate themselves with anything other than their orders from the scum at the top and their next election.

The difference in governance quality is huge primarily because of its aim, and the whole nation agrees and supports what's being done.

I find it amazing how Karlof1 will get involved with and discuss the most mundane comment. I salute his diplomacy and desire to increase your understanding- at least for once you are not degrading the signal to noise ratio of the comment section with insults and poor hater rhetoric. Keep on the good foot!
