Compare the stats of key indicators in Russia to the "west".
The former, ever improving, the latter always deteriorating.
If I was young I'd make the move there.
I left my country of birth 24 years ago so I well know the energy it takes to set up a new life in a foreign land, with a different language and customs. I don't have that energy now.
Putin's loyalty to his country and also to ordinary people is admirable. The scope of his workload is also astonishing. Name me one Western STATESMAN who can be called such. Name me a president of a western country who would be capable of administering such a huge and complex country and which politician is as informed as Putin is. (See the map of Russia above.) .... A little (serious) joke on the side: couldn't Putin also help with the administration of Germany? Germany is already a developing country in decay. Nothing works anymore, more and more things are broken and dirty and are no longer being repaired. ... Oh, I forgot the "Morgenthau Plan".
As Putin has shown in his meetings with the leaders of differing political factions, what he's doing and planning to be done aligns with the nationalists and communists, thus there's no real argument over ultimate goals, just methods. As such, a Communist Party leader could easily become a Russian President since the essence of Communist doctrine is what Putin is implementing. I don't plan on reporting it, but today is Russia's National Unity Day, and the two main events reported at the Kremlin website are worth seeing the photos of on a snowy November day in Moscow, http://kremlin.ru/
Effective recycling presents its difficulties, particularly good communication and supply of suitable separation of the different items. It's been my experience that some councils have problems understanding the various grades of plastic, let alone the general population. It's something I've observed with President Putin that there isn't a level of detail that escapes his attention.
Yes, they always come up with clean cut, handsome dudes, but I just checked results of Russia's 2024 presidential election. Yes, the Communist Party candidate came in 2nd, but with only 4% of the vote.
It's heartening and refreshing to see the leader of a country express concern for people's basic needs. Thanks for this post, Karl.

It's not just energy but dealing with responsibilities and commitments primarily to family. And then there's one's life conditions.

It sounds like many qualified and effective politicians working in political system that engages and supports the people.
TINA - There Is No Alternative. Sorry Margaret Thatcher that your slogan has failed.

It is good that he manages his area well. However, the last thing Russia needs is to go back full Communist if he is hoping to one day lead Russia.
See my comment to Don Midwest.
