Looks like the US burned the bridge.

Well worded, carefully chosen words. Interesting contrast with Blinken and Sullivan.

Thanks for this. It reminds me of the Montreal Canadiens team when I first came to Canada: they were so good that the only team that could match them was their 'farm' club of reserves and juniors in Nova Scotia.

Lavrov's Foreign Ministry is a bit like that. A lot like it when compared with the has beens and third raters the NATO powers trot out to pretend to be diplomats.

Truly depressing.

We are like ghosts, this time not facing the grandeur of nature, or traversing the thick, irreversible jungle; but plugged to a devastated urbanity as in a video game, co-authors of the non-stop suffering. The Heart of Darkness is being constructed by “the only democracy” in West Asia in the name of “our values”.

There are so many invisible horrors enacted behind the fog, in the heart of a jungle now replicated as an urban cage. Helplessly watching the wanton killing of women and children, the carpet bombing of hospitals, schools and mosques, it’s as if we are all passengers in a drunken ship plunging into a whirlpool, admiring the powerful majesty of the whole scenery.

Great words. Once upon a time, somewhere in educational institutions a discussion on these topics could be held. Western Civ, whatever it was, is no longer.

I read that late last night and wanted to write my own sequel, but decided to crash instead.

I am glad to hear/read this:

"Not only do I not expect a truce, I expect that the goals of the special military operation will CERTAINLY be achieved."

Ryabkov has always been more direct in his answers. All of Lavrov's deputies are very capable and could easily be the lead man. Together with the Chinese, they form a very formidable diplomatic team.
