thanks karl... pang is pinging on all cylinders!! i wish more people recognized how nato has been used for war-making, as opposed to peacekeeping.. there is real hypocrisy in the use of the description given for nato as a peacekeeping organization... it is just the opposite..
ASEAN outlook is rather powerful, which is why I made the comparison to South Asia and their fence-sitting. The upcoming elections in Pakistan and India will be informative as will the SCO Summit in June.
I was very disappointed with Philippines. I thought they'd learned from their experience with the first Marcos. Japan and South Korea will need to relearn hard lessons from the past once again. How the publics of those three nations react over the next several years will make or break their future.
The Philippines having been a US colony for so long there's the psychological bonds in segments of the population that still cling to American culture. Ditto for India and its elites of various stripes, additionally there's the diaspora in the UK and Australia; cricket, you know!
Yes, that's understood within elite strata, but the commonfolk didn't benefit at all and still don't when a very close look is made. And Philippines is an ASEAN member, so it's acting against ASEAN's consensus.
I'm curious about the responses of China and the USA to the earthquake in Taiwan. How are each of these countries helping with the restoration of Taiwan? I have a pretty good idea.
This article also left me wondering how people can get over the indoctrination of their superiority that they feel allows them to bully the rest of the world.
Humanitarian efforts always occur with these events, for despite all the hoo-haw, the links between the mainland and Taiwan remain very strong.
As for altering the outlook of the upper crust elite, they usually need to experience a comeuppance event that puts them in their place. It's similar to ridding racist outlooks in people. Of course, some never learn and die hating.

I replied at your latest post. I urge my readers to give it a read!
Thanks, Karl.
