I believe high interest rate pushes down debt and inflation. Putin is the boss in Russia, not the Central Bank. All Western countries' economies are run by the US FED with artificial low rates and high inflation masked by lying national statistics. Terribly destructive for the middle class.
Yes, that's the intent of high rates. In the Outlaw US Empire's case, it needs to raise rates to attract more buyers of its debt. But nations don't want to buy, so the Fed must buy, which furthers its destabilization and that of the entire banking system. People/institutions thinking the 10-year bond is a safe haven need to do better risk analysis. IMO, the best description of the US economy is that of a drunk who can't walk straight, reeling from one side to the other, and sometimes doing a complete 360. IMO, non-dollar/non-euro denominated bonds must be considered the new safe haven. Yes, they are harder to buy but worth the trouble.
"Eden in the East" is also fascinating for its rendition of so many of the region's Creation Myths, amongst other things. There are some things related to humanity caused by climate and tectonics operating separately and in tandem that few realize since they don't take the requisite collegiate classes. For example, when did the Isthmus of Panama appear and what did its appearance most likely alter? When one looks at the continental formations of the Earth humans are currently surfing versus what they've looked like for most of geologic time, one gets a better understanding of just how small humans are in the overall scheme of Nature. Also, understanding what organisms have far more power than humans is also very humbling as Lovelock's Daisy World showed almost 50 years ago along with Margulis's microbe paleontology discussed in "Microcosmos." That the two became friends and colleagues is thus easier to understand. Here's a link to a NOVA program they did together in 1986, https://archive.org/details/GoddessoftheEarth
Thanks for the Nova link. Will go back to the article and check out 'Eden in the East'.
Interestingly our smallness as a specie, within the functionality of aspects of the Gaia philosophy-of-life, doesn't diminish our relevance to the process as a whole. It just takes less of us to do our bit compared to termites.
I've got a picture of pangea with all of the countries of the modern world marked and wondered what life existed on that mega continent and how it dealt with the 'divorce'!
The slides at this link and their short captions I found to be one of the best teaching tools for geology, biology and anthropology, http://www.scotese.com/earth.htm It begins with the Precambrian, which the author calls "an "Ice House" World, much like the present-day." You'll also see a button labeled Climate History, which once had some active graphics that are no longer functional. This graph is one Jo Waller needs to see and understand, http://www.scotese.com/climate.htm
To close, I want to introduce you to Dorian Sagan, yes Carl Sagan's son. You'll see he's a very prolific writer on numerous key topics relative to our short discussion. I've read a handful of the ones he co-wrote with his mother Lynn Margulis. She was the inspiration for George Lucas's pinning the "authors" of Anikin Skywalkers birth to the Mitichlorians, which you'll miss if not paying attention to that portion of the film. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorion_Sagan
Thanks. However couldn't access either of the first two. Then I added an s to the http and received warnings to go back. I ignored those warnings and proceeded and eventually received a forbidden message! Fun but fruitless. Will keep an eye out for Dorian's work. Cheers.
"Asian philosophy is diametrically different from that of the West as it aims for a world at peace and in balance with itself based on the pursuit of the betterment of all. This natural change in human direction is being violently resisted by a small group of people who happen to have control over several key national governments and their financial institutions. What IMO is most striking is the solidarity of the Global Majority and the refusal of Western elites to reach an appropriate accommodation so conflict can be avoided."

Great formulation. I absolutely agree with you. I am far from believing that everything is good in Asia. Nor is Asia the same as Asia.
But still, at least Southeast and East Asia are only interested in business and trade. Extremely industrious and ambitious. Yes, there are some territorial disputes. Especially concerning the South China Sea. If the USA and the West were not constantly provoking people there and were not constantly stirring up trouble through their many NGOs, many of these problems would already be solved. In this respect, the intensive efforts of Russia and China in the SOC and ASEAN, which are trying to find peaceful solutions and achieve a balance of interests, must be praised.
It is a drama and a tragedy that Germany and Europe, against their own interests, are actively promoting fascism and neo-feudalism instead of seizing the unique opportunity to take part in this positive development of the multipolar world, to participate in this process. Seeing how a dystopia is being realized in Canada and Paris is a test for the entire West.
Prabowo is a war criminal. A genocidal piece of shit responsible for 200,00+ murders in East Timor. In 1998, he was discharged from the military and banned from entering the United States for committing human rights abuses.
Suharto's son-in-law, he murdered East Timorise to enrich his cunt wife and her family.
You are absolutely right. The Indonesian regime has been corrupt and genocidal ever since it came to power in a shockingly bloody imperialist coup in 1967. Before which date it was neutralist, tending towards the Soviet/Chinese pole in international affairs.
It is a measure of the ineptitude of US foreign policy that, despite everything, it has managed to alienate its clients in places like Indonesia.
In fact the region, including both Thailand ( a long standing Cold War ally) and Malaysia, a state born in a Cold War struggle against "communist" popular forces and founded on racist, sinophobic politics (as was the Indonesian regime), is united in its turn towards BRICS and rejection of the US.
Something similar happened in Mexico and Colombia where the yanqui embrace has proved unbearable and led to dreams of renewed sovereignty.
Imperialism has a death wish which has now turned into a longing for suicide and an end to it all- we saw this in the way in which Iran, China and Russia a religious, a communist and a turbo capitalist state were herded together into a solid military alliance. We see it in the way that even such clients as Saudi Arabia and Turkey are being driven towards BRICS and the Shanghai defensive alliance.
Clearly the next item on the agenda in Washington is to alienate Europe, break up NATO and push the EU into the Eurasian union in which it will thrive.
However, it appears he isn't a "pet thug" anymore. Indonesian elections and its governmental structure are such that any presidential winner's political party will need to form a coalition within the legislature to exercise governance. Here's Wiki's detailed report, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Indonesian_general_election
Aside from his East Timor history, there are also many reasons to watch his governance given his previous behavior as loser in the elections won by Widodo. I'll also say his Wiki bio isn't at all flattering as it airs lots of his baggage, yet other reasons to watch him closely. But when the election results are looked at, he handily defeated his two main rivals, so no second round was required.
As I wrote, Indonesia is an extremely diverse nation and I would expect its politics to reflect that diversity. Russia will know his background. The observations made by bevin are valid and there remain two months before he's sworn-in as Indonesian President. The initial test will be forming a coalition within the legislature that will require working with at least two other major parties. Indonesia remains a rather young state that's still in the process of maturing, which may take another generation or so--20+ years. And given the rapidity of current events, that's a long time.
Way to go for Indonesia! Thanks to Allah!

Thanks for the 'Sundaland' link. Just read the introduction. Fascinating.

You can try this that has a link in the upper left portion of the page to the Paleomap Project, https://serc.carleton.edu/resources/23283.html Here's another, https://www.geographyrealm.com/paleomap-project/
Yes, it's supposedly "unsecure" because it lacks the https designation but that's because it was made well before that was ever introduced--all the warnings are BS. Here's a similar site whose graphics were done by the same person, https://dinosaurpictures.org/ancient-earth#500 Its creator has his own Wiki page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Scotese
Lovely, will do. Thanks again.

Once again a positive development for Russia

Here's a couple article.

He was the head of Kopassus who make the murderous SAS seem like choir boys. He was/is a sadistic murderer and thug.
It is a tragedy he is in power now. Marcos in the Phillipines and this sub-human animal in Indonesia. The Yanks choose their pet thugs well.
