thanks karl! the usa designated PLO a terrorist group many years ago.. now they designate hamas a terrorist group... doing this makes it impossible to any settlement - and as you note - that was the whole plan - make it impossible and say you can't negotiate with terrorists... label those who have a different viewpoint from you as terrorists/animals... too many in the west fall for this.. while hamas actions on oct 7th explain some of this, in the broader context what choices do the palestinians have? none as i see it and that is intentional on the part of usa/israel... they never were interested in a 2 state solution.. it is all bullshit from the get go... i like how you framed it near the end of your post, which i quote again below.. i have essentially repeated your point in my own way...
". But in reality any sort of election involving Palestinians is impossible currently, not because of what’s happening in Gaza, although that’s important; rather, the inability of Palestinians to freely discuss politics and have an election free from manipulation from compromised institutions and Zionist interference are the real drawbacks. As Lavrov points out, having substantive negotiations with anyone requires the Palestinians be united politically, a situation that hasn’t existed since the Outlaw US Empire and the Zionists refused to recognize the Hamas 2006 election victory thus splitting Palestinians and preventing any reunification, which IMO was the goal. Can’t reach a negotiated solution when there’s supposedly no party to negotiate with."
"So the moment when we will have to make the necessary political decisions is, in fact, brewing."
Nothing like a chilling confirmation of what one intuits, eh, Karl?
BTW, regarding Russia not giving a hoot about the US 2024 election: over 200 million US citizens were registered for the "historic" 2016 election. How many votes were cast in that bout between HRC and Trump?
"Based on United States Census Bureau estimates of the voting age population (VAP), turnout of voters casting a vote for president was nearly 1% higher than in 2012. Examining overall turnout in the 2016 election, University of Florida Michael McDonald estimated that 138.8 million Americans cast a ballot. Considering a VAP of 250.6 million people and a voting-eligible population (VEP) of 230.6 million people, this is a turnout rate of 55.4% VAP and 60.2% VEP.[378] Based on this estimate, voter turnout was up compared to 2012 (54.1% VAP) but down compared to 2008 (57.4% VAP). An FEC report of the election recorded an official total of 136.7 million votes cast for President—more than any prior election."
As far as countering any new missile deployments. I expect Russia to already have a counter in its pocket, the political decision being when to unveil it, and push the Neocons back down the ladder.
The number of registered voter abstentions for the 2016 presidential election were glossed over and hidden from discourse; nearly 1/3 of US registered voters did not participate in that election. The French electorate demonstrated a similar disillusionment in the election process around that same time frame. I guess neither Trump nor Hillary are as popular as made out to be in the MSM.
Voter turnout rates have always been low throughout my life, and I've voted in all elections in every state I've lived in. The Wiki info provided implies 20 million disenfranchised voters nationally, the difference between VAP and VEP, which is about 7% overall. Also, elections aren't mandatory and are held on a workday for the vast majority of voters. And then there's the gross deviation from the "gold standard" of elections based on paper ballots counted by humans to electoral fraud systems run by corruptible machines. https://www.bradblog.com/?p=7417

Quite correct james. Too bad we have a whole stable of barflies who are blind to this basic fact.
