i think the european leaders understand much of this, but they are very unwilling to publicly acknowledge any of this... lavrovs commentary is always helpful.. he articulates many of the same points - central to this conflict - that need to be addressed if their is to be any type of legitimate ceasefire and removal of the root causes... until that happens - nothing will change.. i would like to highlight one paragraph which at the moment i think is very critical to address -

"Ukraine is the only country on Earth that is multinational, and the language of one large ethnic group is banned. The West (NATO, especially the EU) constantly says that human rights are above all. When they discuss Venezuela, Russia, Serbia and Turkey, they never forget about human rights. Check what they say about the situation in Ukraine. They say that Vladimir Zelensky and his team are defending European values."

of course they ( european leaders ) are full of shite and they need to have their fingers held to the fire here on an ongoing basis.. thankfully lavrov is doing this, but the msm makes very sure that lavrovs views which are a good reflection of russias - are kept out of the public domain...

i thank you for trying to keep them in the public domain karl! cheers james

You and psychohistorian both chose excellent paragraphs to highlight.

Every time I hear Lavrov's name, I jump out of my seat like a round-tailed ground squirrel emerges from its burrow. But let's be serious, comparing Lavrov to a rock star doesn't seem appropriate. If we're to assign him any metaphorical comparison, we'll have to resort to galactic dimensions. His well-deserved fame comes not from external spotlights, but from his own light; from his own professional activity... and that of his team (which he himself would add).

Every Rock Star needs a band to make him/her famous. Very few solo artists ever became famous.

What a great response:

Kiril Dmitriev, the Russian presidential special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, has responded to comments by David Blair, a journalist from The Daily Telegraph, who accuses him of trying to deceive Washington.

"Dear David, perhaps the truly sinister ones are those who label others and work tirelessly to sabotage the US-Russia dialogue and the peace process. Do something useful with your life. And let good, honest British journalists do the hard work of saving the reputation of British journalism," the senior Russian official, director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, wrote on his X account.

Very to the point.

We are all still waiting for the moment when the US recognizes its black eye and starts making better repairs than it has done so far.

Zelensky deserves to be put on ignore.

"Hatred is not the best conduit. Israel has never banned the Arabic language, has it? No? I don't think so."

Very bad choice of words. Israel is carrying out a genocide of Palestinians! Why ban a language if you can exterminate a people? It would have been better if he had not said that!

Yes, but it was an excellent example. The problem lies with Western BigLie Media. I’ll bet the only places in Europe that mention Lavrov’s Anatalya Q&A will be are the few friendly European nations. While in Anatalya, Lavrov met with numerous diplomats. The moderator’s mention that 10,000 tickets could be sold to this event starring Lavrov was also an interesting nugget.

You have a good point!

As Karl would say, The Outlaw US Empire & Its 51st Pet Mongrel State, Israel.

He could have used a few other pertinent examples as he's done in the past like French in Canada or the other go-to one English in Ireland, the latter being particularly funny as . . . . Ireland is Eire, Capital Dublin and predominantly Catholic, little love lost for the English and little resistance for/to that law. Probably just laugh and carry on as, regardless.

Whereas a ban in Northern Ireland and you'd definitely have the pipe-bands, protests and Molotov cocktails in the street, the natives being predominantly Protestants and Loyal to the KING/Queen of England.

King William, Billy of The Orange Order.

I sympathize with Minister Lavrov endlessly reiterating only facts and Russia's reasonable positions while having to deal with the rogue's gallery of Western scoundrels that express artificial righteousness while pursuing disdainful aggressive actions. The Empire inevitably is destined to fall on its own sword.

Yes indeed, however, from 2004 he probably had to eat a lot of humble pie, hold his food in listening to the bombastic western gluttons sitting around him and all the while, waiting in earnest for this glorious day to arrive. I'm certain he's never had it so good spanking these political charlatans, hookers & pimps.

As you note we have heard most of this before. Yes, some key questions were not asked - especially on the exceedingly powerful 'global financial elite' who have 'bought' various political administrations, regardless of who is 'allegedly' in power - and on the Iran and Palestine issues.

American exceptionalism, Eurocentrism, & Zionism [all in bed with global financial elite] remain major impediments to more 'civilized' global progress but are increasingly challenged by emerging, and unstoppable short of nuclear war, multipolarity.

This diplomat deserves his own historic plinth - preferably in Odessa's central square and facing a restored, and quietly smiling, Catherine the Great.

I like the plinth idea. Lavrov is never asked about the global financial oligarchy.

"Ukraine is the only country on Earth that is multinational, and the language of one large ethnic group is banned." Colonial powers have throughout history banned the languages of the original inhabitants of the country they have colonised. The Soviet Union did it to the Baltic states. Canadians did it, and much worse to 'their' aboriginals. It has been rife in South America and Africa.

I hope the BRICS+ 'sherpas' are putting together a mutual shipping insurance service so they insure each other collectively, rather than buy it from London or whoever at prices set to allow large profits to be extracted and with the power to weaponise it for blackmail, extortion, and bullying.

Since the sanctions, Russia’s been doing its own insuring, but I don’t have much info on that other than its run by a government ministry.

The label often thrown about far too much nowadays is "Legend". Mediocre people being labelled as legends in whichever chosen field. But if there is 1 true living legend. In this case in the field of diplomacy. The man known as Sergio Lavrov is that 1 true legend. It doesnt matter if a nation is unfriendly or friendly to Russia. Doesn't matter if any other country is a super power, small & poor or an adversary. Sergio Lavrov is highly respected in them all. He is a modern day giant of diplomacy. The biggest of them all. He talks & he is always worth listening to. Whether your the highest official from a country to anyone from the streets. Everything he says is worth listening to.
