Today Lavrov finished two days of intensive talks with the Russian delegation’s counterparts in Beijing, intensive because there’s so much to cover in such a short time. Reading what Lavrov, a truly gifted and honorable diplomat, as far as I can tell and have seen, has said and pursued, it really is amazing to consider, as a Westerner and American (not living in the US anymore), that if we are honest w/ourselves in our assessment of our own country, America has now become the "Land of the Oppressed and the Home of the Bully" ... to "update" what once was a meaningful and more-or-less true national anthem.
As Pogo said so many years ago now, "We have met the enemy, and he is US" ... or should that be "U.S." ... ? And at the same time, I find myself more and more somewhere inside rooting for Russia over the "United NeoconZionist Socialist Republic of America."
But I never stop praying and hoping that the U.S. can be restored and become even better than before.
