Worth the effort, thanks Karl.

Interesting point WRT 'civilian casualties' and Western government's double standards:

"In the two years of the special military operation, there has not been such a number of civilian casualties as there [Gaza] in three and a half months. But in one case it is a war crime, in the other it is a tragedy of war. We need to make up our minds."

Yes, an excellent point Lavrov made. I find it odd that this being one of the most significant pressers of the year for Lavrov that it's had so little traffic and few comments.

He made so many excellent points and it is, as you wrote, a very long post - two sessions for me. You know more about the 'traffic', but from my experience the quote I used was only one of many that leapt out at me. In many ways it was a summary of 'contemporary history'.

For those that have been following it was a usful summary of what we have learned to be the actual case rather than the sophist accounts in the Main Stream Memeia (its all done with headlines and maintained via the process of Cognitive Dissonance). Also your production rate is hard to keep up with :o)

I for one appreciate your energy.

Thanks! You'll note I slowed down just a tad. There's lots in the wings awaiting, however.

Does Lavrov digress too much on some answers? IMO, his digressions often have a greater point buried within them, with the bulk of the digression providing context for that point. Also, we don't get to see the assembled press, so it's also likely that Lavrov assesses them for their level of attentiveness. IMO, there're other contexts provided by others like Escobar and Hudson that complement Lavrov's words so those who take the time to read them all come away with a much better focus on the Big Picture. Hudson's latest interview, https://michael-hudson.com/2024/01/credit-the-economic-planner/ and Escobar's latest column, https://sputnikglobe.com/20240118/how-the-west-was-defeated-1116245840.html

I think sometimes he shapes his answers to particular questions to address other points he wishes to make.

Quite correct!

"Our country was the first to recognize Israel's independence."

I'll bet they regret that now, no matter what Lavrov says. Probably that's why the current Russian government wants a two-state solution so much - they feel guilt about not having stood up and condemned the partition in the first place, which is what should have been done.
