The India and China rapprochement would seem to seriously weaken the US Empire's Quad strategy - to bring India fully into a Western led anti-China alliance.
I wonder if the US Empire's clear role in overthrowing the previous India-friendly Bangladeshi government was the wake up call for India on the need to avoid over reliance on the US.
My examination into that event leads me to say yes, but I also think there're more reasons that accumulated over time. And at bottom was India's national interests that lie with Eurasia.
thanks karl.. i don't know who these commentators on the meeting are - Lin Minwang - for example, but i hope they are right.. it is interesting to see the dynamic with the kashmir separatists in canada playing into the affairs between china and india in that the usa is siding with canada.. all this info about it being an inside job from india is taken on the wisdom of the 5 eyes intel agencies... it is hard not to think they play a huge role in how things continue to unfold on the world stage and this is one fine example of this, if the commentary in this article is to be believed... at any rate - thanks for the article!
A correction is needed here about the “kashmir separatists”. Kashmir is akin to Gaza or Northern Ireland. It is occupied land. The Kashmiris, be they living in occupied Kashmir or Canada, have every right to voice their concerns, especially because the Indian and Pakistan regimes, have killed thousands of innocent people. Sounds very similar to what England did in Northern Ire and what Israel is doing in Gaza. India, is currently is a fascist hindu buffalocracy, whatever world stage or not.
What you refer to as "old differences" is about permanent eviction and violent elimination of people. If you were in their place, you would not be uttering such success b*llsh*t in the first place. India is a violent regime, much like China much like America. Hence, great bricks of the empire in essence.
Canada itself is a settler colonial project and society. Made of endless land grab via colonialism. One day, in the near future there will an entirely difference set of people (not white) who will be Canadian. Your entire understanding or say awareness about Kashmir is bogus.
any more put downs on offer? lol... you are going to be ignored here forward.. cheers and keep an eye on your hostility.. it gets in the way of your clarity..
This is a key relationship as multi-polarity proceeds. Thus far I have viewed India as strongly veering towards The Empire - and any observation of Indian MSM could not fail to note the often rabid anti-China sentiment - often based on clashes along the 'British colonial Line-of-Contact' - bringing some calm to the latter, if not finally reaching agreement, is most welcome. VVP must be pleased with this outcome.
Modi, of course, imho, is a Hindu nationalist fascist who has had no problem in using anti-Islamic rhetoric and actions, as well as anti-China rhetoric, to maintain his hold on power. Demolishing historic Islamic mosques and building Hindu temples in their place has shades of the Zionist inclination to level Al Aqsa to build their 3rd Temple etc. Islamophobia links Modi to Netanyahu and Zionism - and The Empire's tentacles still run deep within the Indian elite.
That said, calm along the line of contact is a Win for Brics and for VVP.
Changing India's internal culture will be difficult and take several centuries as it's deeply ingrained. The only way India will catch China development-wise is to drastically alter its social policies with an aim to destroy inequality and eliminate poverty.
It is a historically very complex heterogeneous society ... as different from China as chalk from cheese ... but sidelining 250 million Muslims is a recipe for future angst and destabilisation which The Empire will exploit ...
... as you note, best if it decides that its future is Eurasian ....
One thing we must note is India doesn't or has yet to endure the sort of accusations and sanctions made against China when it comes to human rights. And it ought to be obvious why--offend India and no Quad, and that's what's happened.
Here is a trick question. India is #2 weapons buyer from America (next to Israel). Modi is hugging buddy with a Zionist mass murderer like Netanyahu. Modi himself is a fascist Hindu xenophobe. Also within India, poverty, lack of shelter and hunger continues to rise. How does all that add up? work with BRICS? In reality?
Labelling a heads of govt meeting as an "outcome of the Kazan summit" sounds too inflated to me when really it is much more a matter of a convenient venue to meet and discuss the significant development of the border issue after 3 years of difficult but finally successful direct bilateral negotiations. Negotiations and agreements with no relationship to the Kazan Summit - although it is very possible their joint membership of BRICS may well have greased the wheels during security discussions.
APEC is a similar bloc that offered convenient venue opportunities for heads of govt to speak directly one on one. But APEC couldn't take credit for bilateral agreements either. As a comparison to BRICS and how much it may help diplomacy long term - APEC in the long run has not helped US-China relationship one bit. Nor those of Canada and Australia with China.
Were India to quit the QUAD bloc and make a shift in overall policy towards the US this would be major change in its geopolitical outlook. While Kashmir remains a festering unresolved territorial dispute since colonial separation not unlike Occupied Palestine.
If some nations within BRICS bloc could assist in resolving this conflict with Pakistan and the people themselves of Kashmir (as China did for Iran and the Arabs) it would be a stupendous achievement which would really put BRICS on the world map as a powerful new global player the west might notice.
Both India and Pakistan have to decolonize Kashmir first. The UN plebiscite of Kashmir is still pending, totally ignored by both nations. Worse, a range of extra-judicial killing of innocent citizens is on, in both parts of Kashmir. As an Indian, I know very well that the Hindu Right of India will never let the Kashmiri people decide their own fate and right to statehood / identity.
Thanks for informing us where you're from and why your POV. As I've written in the past, Partition was a deliberate nightmare that continues to plague many millions of people. Most of the Indian sub-continent's problems are directly related to that act. How to overcome it continues to perplex just as was intended. I have no answer aside from saying the peoples involved must figure it out themselves, which means they must engage in dialog and amicable behavior that eliminates the casting of Others as less than human enemies.

settling old differences in other countries isn't a recipe for success as i see it..

as a canuck, i am allowed to have a say about what happens in canada... it is unfortunate you refer to my viewpoint in the way you do..

India's got to make a call. Either team up with China or the US, one or the other. No more fence-sitting.

Wonderful news! Now let's see what BRICS can accomplish with Israel.
BRICS as an association has no armed forces, although its members do. So, the equation regarding force remains the same.
Excellent news!

You just read a report on one of the outcomes of the Summit, so you should be able to answer yourself.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, lets watch what comes out of BRICS.
