Karl, I've enjoyed your thoughtful commentary on Bernhard's site and have followed you here.

I like to savor lengthy articles (You and Simplicius vie for that top mark) and so will read later when many others have already added their two cents. Nonetheless, I'm getting the gist that the RF education system is leaving the West in the dust. I'm reminded of my own Engineering coursework which was a high point in my life.

Thanks for reading and your reply. My overall aim is to show via documentation not oration that a political-economic philosophy based on People Centered Development with most vital support systems organized as Public Utilities can and does work and is actually far more efficient than what was the liberal capitalist model that is now the failed neoliberal model. As these meetings make clear, Russia is still building its system of development, but it's also clear that the team involved in that work is very dedicated and intelligent. This is the first meeting where I've seen brainstorming sessions being engaged in prior to the main meeting--that's why there were groups at different tables instead of being gathered around a large conference table as is the usual practice. Another key is getting the regions to work in harmony with the federal sector in planning, financing and lawmaking. And of course, there're the cities, towns and villages within the regions that also need to be coordinated with. Federalism can be a very dynamic system when managed properly but can become very unwieldly when it's not as we're experiencing within the USA.
