To be a good diplomat you must have at least 2 faces, Erdogan has 7 like Dr Lao.
I mentioned briefly in a comment yesterday that at least Lavrov didn't have to deal with the c**t Nudelman, referring to a meeting between Lavrov & Kerry when Nuland kept sticking her oar in in an attempt to control Kerry who had good relations with Lavrov. Apparently they had 60 varieties of contact together in 2016, still that was the height of the troubles.
John Helmer wrote in his Dances with Bears article Jan. 24th 2016 (still available online) that at a meeting in Zurich on the 19th of Jan. 2016 between Kerry & Lavrov plus delegations and with Victoria Nuland present as Under-Secretary, maybe Secretary of, Euro-Asian affairs, Lavrov shook everyone's hand except Nuland's.
She hadn't grasped that Lavrov saw her as playing a leading roll in the events in Ukraine.
When she moved on to another role Lavrov personally congratulated Kerry on getting rid of that woman.
I appreciate every scrap of Sergei Lavrov I can find. He is the consummate diplomat, likely the greatest Statesman of our age. Truly a larger than life figure to me and I'm thankful everyday that he and Vladimir Vladimirovich are at the helm over there.
The history of Russia since President Putin came to power is absolutely remarkable and Mr. Lavrov has been instrumental in helping her regain her footing after the disasterous 20th century. He always cheers me up.
"And now, after Joe Biden's "term," people have come who want to be guided by common sense. They openly say that they want to end all wars and want peace. Who demands the "continuation of the banquet" in the form of war? Europe."
Well... not quite. Who is fanning the flames in the Middle East? Who is bombing Yemen? Who is providing Israel with the bombs destroying literally everything in Gaza? Ah, yes... the Outlaw US Empire!
Speaking of the Middle East, the other day Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, gave a lesson to the Russians, a very relevant one too, considering that Trump cannot tame that rabid Ukrainian dog:
"Negotiating with the United States is neither wise, nor intelligent, nor honourable. The reason? Experience!
We must understand this correctly: We should not be led to believe that sitting at the negotiating table with that government will resolve certain issues. No, negotiating with the U.S. will not solve any problems."
The Iranians are faced with a different dilemma than the Russians. IMO, it’s important for Russia that it appear reasonable in the RoW’s eyes and be open to talking, which it now is because the other side has also decided to talk, and so far IMO it’s clear to RoW that the other side is being unreasonable if it actually wants the war it started to come to an end as quickly as possible, which is what it’s said for months. By not cutting all aid, Trump loses face globally. By bombing Ansarallah and further abetting the Zionist Genocide, Trump loses even further face and the Outlaw US Empire’s status dives ever deeper into the muck. The Iranians in contrast don’t have any requirement to negotiate, so they don’t/won’t. Iran has called Trump’s bluff—he either widens the war or shuts-up. And of he attempts the former, all those US bases that are hostages will be subjected to attack along with the Zionists. Only then will the world learn of the power Iran has to defend itself. Trump’s Neocons bark a lot, but I doubt they have much bite. If Trump really wants a reset with Russia, then he’ll back down on Iran.
The USSA/NATO is agreement incapable. They are liars and the truth is not in them. They have functioned in lies and duplicity for a long enough time that the global south no longer believes a word they say. Trust once shattered is almost impossible to rebuild, especially on a nation to nation level. The only hope that the USSA has is to be utterly defeated and become irrelevant on the world stage and start over from scratch and find its moral roots again.
I’d say the ancien regime that runs it all behind the scenes must be eliminated along with its ideology; otherwise, it will just reemerge somewhere else as it has over the centuries.
An interesting question and even more interesting answer, Karl: “Does Sergey Lavrov have any idea of his place in history, or does he not think of such things? My guess is the latter.”
Thank you Karl. My take away is that to save the UN from USA imperialism, first break NATO, second prosecute and censor the genocide USAI team. Perhaps then the augean stables can be cleared of the turds.
Agree, but as you’ll see in the article I just published, I don’t hold out much hope for Trump to abandon NATO as he needs it to attack China. There’s a reason why I haven’t said Brian Berletic’s wrongheaded as the Outlaw will remain an Outlaw until it’s finally forced to conform and obey humanity’s laws. The West’s economic downfall will aid in reforming the UN, but that will take some time. Meanwhile, the chore is to keep the peace existing where it now exists. "I am saying what I think not as a person who cares about the concept of honour, pride and conscience, but as a diplomat." - Sergei Lavrov
Mr. Lavrov has come under criticism because his diplomatic language generally is not that of condemnation, not even when Russia's adversaries do their worst to his country. The quote above explains this extraordinary diplomatic MO. He sets aside his personal feelings of honour, pride and conscience in order to engage with with every country that wishes to approach him. He doesn't expect that he and his opposites will agree on everything, or even anything necessarily. But he will always look for some common ground. This is the essence of the diplomatic art, in which Mr. Lavrov has no equal in the world today.
fascinating karl.. thanks so much! i too would love to read an autobiography of his! you ask interesting questions at the end.. it remains to be seen how he will view the trump admin in a few years... i note how close lavrov is to putin.. he mentions him a few times here in a deferential way... these 2 leaders are an important signature to russia's rise to help in the acknowledgement of a mulit polar world.. it is via their work that we can acknowledge this more fully..
While Putin was rising in 1990s St. Petersburg, Lavrov was in the US and the UN and didn’t return to Russia until 2004 when he was made Foreign Minister, so it’s hard to determine how their relationship developed over the past 21 years. Yes, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to know. I hope he allows someone to write his biography while he’s still alive and can contribute since he’s expressed no motivation to write a memoir.
Lavrov says the UN is for the era of multi-polarity. Wrong. The UN is the central globalist instrument of a one-world government through its WEF and WHO wings (among others) with the same genocidal and oppressive mandates on civilian populations globally. (CBDCs, pandemic scams, vaccine genocide scams, chemtrails, flooding countries with immigration etc.) It all leads to the destruction of economies increasing the population's reliance on government so they can be controlled because they will eventually have nothing. It's happening right now at an accelerated rate since the convid hoax. As one lady succinctly put it, "They are all in on it"
Multi-polarity is just a term to give an appearance of distinction. But when you break it all down there's a dispute between oligarchs who are in the same club more loyal to one another than to their respective populations globally. Everything else is distracting theatrics to bamboozle and divide populations to prevent them from uniting against the overlords. The Ukraine conflict serves as a good smokescreen to what is really going on globally. And peace will be restored in Ukraine just in time for the next global plandemic. Vaccines and CBDC's are already set to roll out. lol
IMO, Lavrov is in a far better position to make judgements/assessments of the UN than most people on the planet. It has done what it was designed to do—prevent another World War.
The UN so is the era of multipolarity which is why the US have produced so much propaganda about it being the centre of 'globalism' meaning woke 15 minute dairy free cities. The WHO is obviously completely captured by big pharma aka organised crime but there is no genocidal mandate- why would they want to destroy their market, particularly in the more affluent West?
The people who run the US government ie BlackRock (owners of Exxon, Lockheed Martin, Cahill, Microsoft etc etc) want to protect US primacy and do not want government regulation, particularly over the climate crisis, so they invented the WEF woke cabal to create a backlash big government in favour of business and get a climate crisis denying orange puppet into the White House.
Lavrov is the quintessential diplomat, he almost made Maddie Albright seem human.

Kerry, the idiot.
Yeah a rich idiot! Beanz means Heinz!

I've been looking at Lavrov smiling a bit hysterically standing next to Clinton. H. pressing a fake 'reset' button. Not his finest moment.
If I had to stand next to that harpy her dress would be covered in vomit. Pretty impressive he didn't wring her neck!
