That was an extremely interesting read. I find it fascinating the differences between the societies in dealing with the same issues. It’s a lot to take in and contemplate. At least it seems that Putin realizes the issues and wants to work towards resolution although, as you say, he has to realize he won’t be around to see these issues completely settled.

IMO, there's basic similarity in the abortion issue between USA and Russia with the main difference being the lack of its politicization within Russia. Immigration/guest workers is very different as the USA is a settler state with a very racist edge historically. Russia is not. Russia's bane was Jewish intolerance thanks to Christian lies, not so-called racial differences. Russia's currently very sensitive about its culture being attacked making it harder to tolerate the sort of ghettos that are blooming, but there's a solution to that and those immigrants can become good loyal Russians if treated properly.

Yes the fact that all address their desire to maintain a Russian culture while recognizing the need for immigration or guest workers seems to be a major separation from US. It’s also interesting to see all the speakers while recognizing the fact of abortion try to work out solutions. I thought some of the economic solutions proposed were interesting.

Problems are easier to solve when they're not politicized. Relationships and reproduction, however, are thorny social issues that can be solved somewhat. Physically, it's best for a woman to bear children between 18 to 26 where 4 children are easily possible. Unfortunately, men usually aren't mature enough for serious conjugal relationships until they're 22-24. The national demographic issue can be intelligently discussed with young people by the time they're 12. How to teach reproductive responsibility and relationship management from that age and beyond? It would be great if some of the female readers would comment.
