The two past events I’m referring to is Putin’s 2018 Federal Assembly speech where he famously announced Russia’s new weapon systems and showed videos of them, which were laughed at until it became clear they were very real as he said.
Putin pointed out just how much capital was lost when the USSR imploded. IMO, Russia has gained most of it back plus raised the condition of Russians markedly, while those is seceding SSRs found "independence a hindrance as their wellbeing has worsened in comparison particularly since 2002 once Putin was no longer in transition. I just thought of an excellent book title for Russia's reversal versus the USA's decline: Superpower Teeter-totter: Russia's Rise vs USA's Decline.
LOL - I had to reread this note twice…so it is your suggestion for a possible book and not a book already written 🧐 BTW, is there a book written that does address this issue? 😘
I don't know as it's hard for me to keep up with current publications, although there are some that have part of the story. Glenn Diesen's "Europe As the Western Peninsula of Greater Eurasia" would be one.
The moronic, exceptionalists ignored VVP to their peril. They were given friendly warnings and enough rope to hang themselves, and they chose the rope.
The U.S. is like the bully in the sandbox of kids playing with toy trucks. The bully's truck is smaller than one of the other kids' trucks so the bully must either destroy the bigger truck or take it over. The U.S. can't and will not tolerate being #2 even if it means self-destructing. Neocons are an insecure bunch of bullies.
The bully analogy doesn't go far enough as Neocons kill people for entertainment it would seem as they use any and all means to attain their goals. Like the Nazi Plan Ost or the Zionist Genocide Project.
Tracey is clueless. He has no concept of the military balance and thinks NATO is some sort of capable military alliance - which it is not and this has been explained over and over ad nauseum by military experts such as Scott Ritter, Douglas Macgregor and Andrei Martyanov.
As I am on record since April, 2022, the entire purpose of the Russian SMO is to remove Ukraine from the board permanently, and eliminate any possibility of a NATO ground attack against Russia. Essentially, Russia is building an "Iron Curtain 2.0" from the Black Sea to the Arctic. In addition to new Military Districts being emplaced in western Russia and opposite Finland, Russia will place a new Military District in western Ukraine to counter the NATO Aegis Ashore installations in Poland and Romania, where are the only weapons systems capable of threatening Russia itself. The Black Sea will be controlled not only by the Russian Naval base at Sevastopol, but a new naval base in Odessa.
Subsequently, NATO will only be able to threaten Russia using ballistic missiles launched from submarines. Any US Navy surface ships will be tracked and can be destroyed in minutes anywhere within the range of Russian Navy hypersonic missiles (1,500km at least, not counting the range added by Russian air assets.)
THANK YOU! I was curious about a judgment on his ‘knowledge’, I suspect, since I found his post really patronising without ‘facts’, so to speak. Your first sentence summed up what I was curious about. The rest, of course, I agree with. I would also add Brian Berletic to your list 😎
This was a very enlightening article this evening. In reality both sides have hinted that frustration in current affairs has lead to first strike philosophy now being on the table. It may be that limited nuclear strikes will end a war quicker than long conventional battles will.
One of the Kinzhals did a wonderful job of taking out a Patriot battery, interfering with Raytheon Patriot sales for years to come.
The Russians can be very smart and when they get their act together, as they have been doing for a while now, admirable for their accomplishments.

Yes, I was thinking of getting Glenn Diesen’s book.
thanks karl... reading that is like a walk down memory lane.. it seems like such a long time ago..

I agree, Karl. Thanks for the insightful article.
Michael Tracey just published this: “ Here's the best question to ask Vladimir Putin”. I like him but this seems to be missing a lot…. I would be curious what would be your opinion. https://open.substack.com/pub/mtracey/p/heres-the-best-question-to-ask-vladimir
Tracey has it all wrong, meaning the entire context. The item IMO is useless.

Time will tell.
Russia currently has a distinct advantage, but Russians are also honorable and a first strike when having pledged not to is dishonorable.
Excellent, very informative post!
