The changes to Russia’s Constitution giving the Duma more power in the selection of government ministers was exercised for the first time after the recent election and is the main subject of discussion between State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and President Putin.
If you look at what happened in the Netherlands after the election there it has taken 6 months of infighting to get resolved. Not quite a parallel theme, but I think if the Duma ratified personnel on the basis of the correct man / woman for the job, then that's a great step.
Agreed. This is yet another example proving Russia is more democratic than all Western nations as it puts the interests of the people/nation before all others. Not quite 100 years ago Charles Beard wrote a book that sought to define what constituted the National Interest, the very first attempt by anyone in the USA. Needless to say, the USA has never met the Beard standard, but I would say that Russia has, which IMO is vastly important. "The Idea of National Interest," which as you'll see is framed against US foreign policy. https://archive.org/details/ideaofnationalin0000bear

Thanks as ever for putting this out there.

Thank you for the link. Something for a rainy day perhaps.
Well, here on the Oregon coast, it rains most of the time.
Dude, I live in Ireland.... Our national anthem is Four Seasons in One Day. OK, well, that's not quite true 😀, but that's one great song.
There's a reason why both our locales are green.
