Some thing's survive the most dramatic changes: it has been 103 years since, on September 1 1920, the "First Congress of the People of the East" in Baku, Azerbaijan met and discussed almost the same issues

The delegates, mainly Turks and Persians broke into frenzied applause when, speaking for the Comintern, Zinoviev said "Brothers, we summon you, in the first place, to a Holy War against English Imperialism.."

The Empire has a new mailing address, safe on the far side of the Atlantic, and the Comintern died a lifetime ago, even the Bolsheviks have gone, while superficially the British, French, Dutch and Belgian and Empires no longer exist.

But the logic of international relations under imperialism has not changed. It is a remarkable fact that the interests of all but the ruling class of the Empire demand an end not just to the five odd century old domination of the european-creole empire but the capitalist class relations which underpin it.
