Plenty of food for thought in that interview.

I've made the point else where that Carlon's strategy in his conversation with President Putin was to play a western Everyman (or woman) and that directed the degree of questioning and his facial expressions. Of course there is always another version of that Everyman (or woman) of the Waste, who assumes the Russian President is as duplicitous as the Collective Wasters, or simply buys into the promoted image, of said Wasters and their media minions, of a 'lying dictator whose intent is world domination'. At the end of the day it's possible that Carlson and Putin surprised each other.

Given the snippets I've read on Carlson's post-interview thoughts, your closing sentence seems close to the mark. I assumed Carlson would take an adversarial approach too. Putin's daily agenda doesn't leave him much time to dwell on small events (IMO) like the interview. IMO, Putin's meetings related to governing Russia and planning its future are much bigger.

Not sure whether you've seen it but this 'Dialogue Works' podcast with Prof. Richard Wolff has an interesting take on 'the interview' and much else.

There are some interesting dialogues between Prof. Wolff and Michael Hudson at the same site FYI.

Fascinating insight into Putin's thinking - or at least what he wants us to think he is thinking. Thanks.

His relationship with Pavel is almost as long as Putin's presidential tenure, and if you watch the video, you'll see Putin's even more relaxed than with Carlson. Another POV on the Carlson/Putin interview was provided by Tom Luongo that's worth reading if one has the time, and I'm sure there're a few others that provide some other small insights, https://tomluongo.me/2024/02/13/what-everyone-is-missing-about-the-putin-carlson-talk/

Putin is pretty cagey about what he puts out there. Masterful in my opinion to not get into commenting negatively on Biden’s mental capacities. Let both sides snipe at each other about who Putin favors. An interesting read.

Yeah, nice little rod thrown into the D-Party's spokes that quip. Lavrov's statements today backstop what Putin said and perhaps a bit more. Putin's roaming all over Russia driving trains and tanks, and none of it is campaign related. He's ruling and will continue after the March elections.

Great interview! President Putin impresses again! I feel ashamed of the vast majority of Western leaders currently in office. There has to be a change in the west otherwise humanity will be terribly compromised in ways not even considered to date.

Actually, the Global majority of Humanity is moving in the proper direction while the West dives in the opposite direction. Neoliberal Parasitism has major purchase across the West, wants to expand more, but is being thwarted by the Global Majority's many institutions and far better leaders. Plus, there're several excellent developmental models to choose from that aim to uplift people and their societies, not enslave them with debt as all too many nations have, and continue, to experience.
