G'day Grasshopper, I ain't no Dem supporter but tell me how many GOP members or senators went to war apart from Vietnam, please. I myself aren't a government of ex military supporter but in Russia's case it's wars being an existential thing I can acquiesce but in a country never threatened closely by an enemy it is not such a positive. McCain comes to mind with military service and not a positive for the majority of the population.
In peacetime sons bury their fathers; in wartime, fathers bury their sons.
I think out whole political system across the western world is so debauched, corrupt, and morally dead that there is no longer an historical connection with the current generation back even to as recently as our grandparents. We have unravelled in two generations. Our venal politicians cheer for war but get their children off the hook (Bush). It is always someone else's sons and now daughters spilling blood. And for what? The banks? Wall Street? Are they worth dying for? When Lindsay Graham is kitted out and on the line then maybe I'll agree, but until such times I refuse to fight their forever wars.
And in that context, Russia has seen so much trauma and spilled so much blood to ensure its survival that we in the west utterly fail to comprehend the monumental will of the Russian people to overcome adversity. And our politicians are wanting us to go fight these people? Insanity, whether conventionally or nuclear, as we will be comprehensively defeated. So insane, in fact, I think that our whole political class needs removed, one way or the other.
As an addendum to my post, and confirmation of our moral death, please watch the following YT video - 13mins. It's about child trafficking from Guatemala, and how the Biden administration is apparently involved.
Through better or worse times, Russia has never ceased to be a great power. The fact that it is prospering and growing stronger is reassuring and gives hope. The long and bloody Anglo-Saxon imperialist experience has been a disastrous historical episode that Russia is now ending. Perhaps Putin's smile is a sign that confirms this.
I agree one hundred percent with the final comment of your article, "It's not just Putin... "
That was fine inspiring speech and I am sure that the current state of Russian political development is due in no small part to a nation wide effort by the entire Putin team to lift up every region, district and local government to a focus on people delivery. It certainly was not so under Yeltsin and in the decade prior so the transformation is evident. Certainly through the early days of the Communist Party the same energy and vision was applied in the transition from Tsarist monarchical rule into a unified state with a central cohesive government. Russia's transformation over the past 125 years has been extraordinary and it is good to see the liaison and mutual support with China who likewise had an extraordinary transformation and intensive focus on the benefit for the people. Imagine the Cuban people's progress if they had been free of the vile sanction punishment for daring to be free. No wonder the capitalist oligarchy despises and sabotages at every possible opportunity.
Thank you Karl, in these gloomy days your effort is much appreciated.
Thanks uncle. However, it’s simple for me: all I need do is report on what Russia’s doing. Those willing to see can learn how to be transformative, but they must act to make it real. And that’s the #1 problem—Western publics with a few exceptions aren’t acting.
G'day Karl, I just read John Helmers latest. Yes we know he is no Putin fan but surely his most recent posting has some veracity and bears a great similarity to reality of the present RFed approach accepting the tug of war between the military and the executive/Putin.
I am no doomer but clear blue skies have been lacking on the horizon though many forecaster predict fine warm and sunny. We see such positive things here in the gymnasium but are they manicured not by you please note and yes in 5 year terms nigh on guareented barring repeated deception a la takfiri/Erdogan/Bibi in Syria and apparent liaisons of Putin and foreign entities alongside centuries old hatred from the Brits etc.
I’ll need to digest it and integrate what I see as useful into my overall thoughts about the Big Picture. Some have characterized the conflict as a Civilizational War, but I see it as being much deeper and older as it’s also an Imperial War for control over global geopolitics and geoeconomics.
Thanks Karl, it is somehow not boring this speech, as I am not a fan of party speeches. Interesting that there is a push from Putin to improve infrastructure and life in places other than the big metropolitan places. I have heard that outside of Moscow and Petersburg the life is very provincial, and poor, especially in the northern latitudes.
Yes, you're correct. Russia's development focus is on the regions east of the Urals, with special emphasis on the Arctic and far east. Putin's Leap Day Address is critical for learning what's planned since it's outlined all in one setting. https://karlof1.substack.com/p/leap-day-putins-address-to-the-federal
Not that I see, although there’ll be many candidates. Look closely at those Team Putin members who’re in their late 30s-early 40s as they’ll have 5+ years of additional seasoning before the 2030 election. You also need to look at the overall old-guard, those of Putin’s generation, who also need to be replaced because governing Russia is a genuine team effort. And there are Team Putin people who aren’t in government that chair the major public utilities. So, the succession process isn’t just related to one person. It’s far more complex, which is why the grooming of so many new people having the traits Putin and his team favor.
None a them dammm demoRats that voted for all these wars against Russia never went to fight on no front lines lately
