Unusual press question , unless its just the translation "Will Russia put forward proposals and initiatives aimed at making the economic corridor between Russia, Mongolia and China and the Power of Siberia – 2 gas pipeline project more beneficial for the economy and infrastructure development of Mongolia?"
Sounds subservient. You would think Mongolia would be bringing forward proposals the benefit Mongolia.
I had to review the Q and it's likely the product of it being submitted via text and not in person, which is a detail about the interview I didn't provide. IMO, during the meetings certainly beforehand when the intergovernmental commission met, there was already consensus that the project would also facilitate Mongolia's gasification. The problem posed by Mongolia was the cost of the project--the gasification component--since it already has issues with its balance of payments. But in order to further develop, Mongolia needs more energy production well beyond what will be provided with the upgrade to the capital's thermal power plant.

Also, I was struck that the Mongolian newspaper reporter pressed Putin on Russia banning some media outlets, along with the West.
