Bravo. I particularly commend the comments you make about the lamentable quality of care which the US gives its veterans, and the complete indifference which many exhibit to the oath they are required to take to defend the Constitution.

This is a long way from Biden checking his watch as caskets arrive at Dover. I wonder if Biden has ever visited a VA facility?

Cheers Karl.

I'm not American but I have heard and read about the deplorable service provided by the VA. And when you write about how superficially people thank individuals for their service I wonder if that superficialty extends throughout the whole bureaucracy. If it's all just window dressing. Certainly the huge suicide rate for veterans seems to indicate that the level of support is far below what it should be.

We have two vet orgs: Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, which are more like post-service clubs, while there’s an adjunct to the VA that serves as an interface. But there’s nothing like the Defenders of the Fatherland or all the volunteer orgs that exist in Russia. Of course, the top→down emphasis placed on soldiers and their families’s welfare is a huge booster as Putin has sparked much need legislation and benefit programs, and continually urges all Russians to support their Heroes. The point people like Martyanov make about Russian’s knowing what it means to fight wars to protect home and family needs to be taken very seriously, which of course affects the support culture.

I think the word "children" is probably a mistranslation here. Probably there is a term better than "ward" but I suspect it comes closer to the meaning.

I don't have the references at my fingertips, but here are some comments.

The US military, DARPA, etc. develops bio weapons, including the Sars-2 virus. Thus it had a response already developed.

The US military continues to use personal as human guinea pigs for drugs. Early on a military doctor working with flight readiness of pilots saw the effects of the mRNA vaccines that made the pilots unable to fly forever. She pointed out that it costs $1 million to train a pilot and now they are eliminating them from service and destroying their future employment as pilots. She won a lawsuit so the continued to work in her role until she retired. In other words, the military did not care about the soldiers in its care, but responded to the political agenda of deployment of drugs.

A similar thing happened in the Iraq invasion years ago when experimental drugs harmed many service members.

Agent-Orange complications helped kill my Father-in-Law. The problem is institutional and starts with Class and Congress. How all US Civil War vets were treated provided a look at things to come. Also the Bonus Army is a tale few know.
