Not buying that Putin will hand over western Ukraine to Poland without a quibble.

What he said was that he will not "interfere" with Ukraine allowing or submitting to Poland taking part of western Ukraine. What he did NOT say was what happens AFTER. When the time comes for that Russian Military District in western Ukraine, Russia may very well "interfere" with it.

I don't read Putin literally and neither should anyone else. Sometimes it's correct, sometimes it's not.

I echo the other poster that I hope your recovery is without issues.

Yes, go ahead and do your business, we won't interfere in that; but what happens later will be what happens later.

Thanks. They'll read a bit like Dr. Hudson's because we're closely studying the same events and share very similar POVs, as with his "Looming War Against China," which I see as an impossible task. https://michael-hudson.com/2023/07/the-looming-war-against-china/

I love this paragraph from Putin - (Let "idiots be idiots" but said more politely)

P** "As for the policy of the Ukrainian regime, this is its business. They want, as is customary with traitors, to hand over something, sell something, pay off their owners with something – this, I repeat, is ultimately their business. We will not interfere in this".

**

It poses the questions; Will there be anything left of Ukraine as a "Nation" in a couple of months as it becomes a totally owned subsiduary of Multinational Corporations? (divided...and the Polish take charge of the western "rump" state) Do the new "owners" think or act the same as the old owners? Does corporate ownership without signed contracts, men that all the present "Direction" can be fired on the spot (with or without severance pay or notice, or do they expect separation bonuses?)

***

I hope you recover quickly, All the best. (Always a worry when the doctors get their hands on a knife.)

after reading these statements by putin i realize how ignorant i am of the history and how it affects my impression of what is taking place in this same geographical area... i just looked up the word Petliurists and it led me to reading this article here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capture_of_Kiev_by_the_White_Army

looks like there is a lot of water under the bridge in all of this... i know history is told by the winners.. not sure how this feeds into everything at play in this proxy war in ukraine...

History of Russia's Civil War is one where reading original docs is paramount because so much was made-up. The Western based stuff I read in the 1970s was mostly overturned by new Russian writings in the late '90s and early 2000s. One of the reasons Putin's been keen on opening up Russia's vast archives is to set the record straight on Russian history from 1890-1990. Note that no Western pundits try to contradict him.
