I should note that RT’s version of Karaganov’s Profile essay is essentially completely rewritten including its title, “Sergey Karaganov: Russia must help overthrow Western Europe’s dangerous political elites,” although RT merely says it “was translated and edited by the RT team.” I’ll also include a note to those who are VK users that I wasn’t allowed to sign in to my profile account and thus spread my writings further and also communicate with my 1400+ friends.

dear Karl, i am grieved to learn of the loss of VK. especially Peter Watson's archive & treasure trove of bioweapons. i've missed peter @ moa, if you are in touch, please, let him know how very much his work & insights have meant. i've tried to archive much of what he posted. i hope all his work will not be lost. bless you both.

I’m afraid Peter has passed on. His last postings to me had that distinct message. I’m pissed at losing his archive as I could’ve copied it many times.
Karaganov's article, like Dugin's Tweets, demonstrate a certain intellectual provincialism.
I guess one can't really blame the Russians for feeling hostile towards Europe after Western leaders have called for the defeat of Russia; however, I don't believe that an emotionalized approach is in the best interests of Russia.
Firstly, there is no such thing as "a European". There are many different people, who each have a different view of Russia. There is also the popular opinion, which isn't as hostile towards Russia as what it might appear from the media. The media serves the transatlantic Deep State to produce war propaganda. Most people are too busy with their daily lives to try and see through the propaganda.
The conflict is rooted in the rivalry between the Anglo-American Empires and the Russian Empire dating back to the Great Game 200 years ago. For the most part, continental Europeans are just the pawns in the divide-and-rule games of the Empire. The aim has always been to divide Russia and Germany to prevent a hegemon that could challenge the Anglo-Empire. The NordStream destruction physically separating Russia from Germany is a reminder of this.
It's the US/UK that provoked the war by trying to pull Ukraine into Nato in 2008 against the wishes of West Europeans. Ultimately, the US decides what happens in Nato, not the Europeans. That the Anglo-Americans are able to exploit Russophobia in Central and Easter Europe is also not the fault of Western Europe. It's up to the Russians to improve relations with their former vassal states.
Karaganov cites Borrell's garden analogy as proof of European arrogance. That's quite beside the point. What is significant is that Borrell copied the garden analogy from US Neocon Robert Kagan. This shows that European leaders have been poisoned by US Neocon thinking. The Neocons use human rights as a pretext for imperial expansion. While the Anglo-Americans know full well that it is a lie, Europeans actually tend to believe in the idea of democracy promotion as something moral to work for.
Without a credible nuclear deterrence, Europe is neither a threat to Russia not the US, but both the US and Russia will be tempted to use Europe as a punching bag.
The only way to prevent nuclear war is by revealing the war propaganda as false. Karaganov's nuclear sabre rattling isn't helpful in that respect.
Agree with your comment and assessment of Karaganov. RT tried to make his paper seem even more radical as I noted. How many will only read it and not the original?
so I'm just reading the part at the beginning about the censorship in Russia - but its sort of against Russian interests isn't it ? Perhaps the writer whose essay was basically rewritten - is not a populist type guy and the majority of the readership is more centrist ? and further on it gets more depressing. I would also add that the populations of the European countries are not totally russophobic although many dolts are. I think Russia needs to wait this out. Orban and Fico and now Georgescu will cause the boat to rock in that disgusting EU and eventually - as Georgescu predicts things will get better. Like Mr Putin said too - the Vampire ball is coming to an end. And he was serious. Those creepy horrible criminals drink human blood and traffick in children. Its getting more widely known and so its a matter of time and letting the Europeans get a grip on the totalitarian WEF - Zionists...sadly Orban is a zionist...its the big problem now but even some zionists are not blood drinkers. But the top of the EU are. and WEF Sorry Karl, but is this article a mirror of what Karaganov said ? I don't like it. He seems to be a hawk that wants nuclear war. Or have I misread it ? I really want to say too that its hard for the Russians to distinguish the American spirit from the American establishment - the corporation and the governmet....one and the same pretty much now. But they are not the people - the people love Russia. As far as I can tell. And even though Russia has been subjected to Nazism which is rife again - times are advancing and the people grow stronger. I think within ten years, there's going to be significant changes in the control the governments have over the people - like in Gaza today And Lebanon. what is happening there is going to come to all of us. They are leading us, the people are showing the way how to overcome zionism and satanism and corporatism and corruption. Anyway - I hope so Just hang in there Russia - we are with YOU
Karaganov’s been around for a long time and his nuke advocacy is one of his noted traits. RT actually made his essay more radical as it tried to in its headline, while it omitted the rationale for the paper. It really needs to be read two-three times as do most of his writings.
well...he's a neo-con - I will reread it. But people who sing that song are everywhere in the US. Hawks. But its very interesting topic...thank you for writing.
Does anyone ever mention Britain's role in it all? - It played and still plays a significant part in the USA's politics and the Ukraine. I am not talking about British people, I am talking about the Anglo-Saxonian establishment operating within 1 sq mile - the City of London, who have been historically anti-Russian and the biggest Russophobes of them all!
Since 2011, and more so since 2007, Putin's Munich speech, can be marked as the beginning of the disintegration of Russia and the Global South from the Western Unltra-Globalism project.
The Syrian conflict of 2011 began Global restructuring from a unipolar globalist-liberal system to a multinodal one. In this fight, the sphere of influence, establishing macro zones, is one of the strategic components that will determine the winners and losers. Looking from such a perspective lens, we can understand that the British establishment is seeking its sphere of influence, and its aim is set for Ukraine, Belarus, and another Eastern European block.
It is obvious that Britain's parasitic top is willing to sacrifice its history and its own people bc, in reality, they are not bound to any nationality or sovereignty - their only interest is to control the money flows and exchange rate and use the USA as a muscle ram to bully others with sanctions, and proxy wars. They would be the biggest beneficiaries in the case of a destroyed and devastated Russia and a weakened US, politically and militarily. That is why the neocons ruling in the US play a major role in US politics, using Israel's messianic rhetoric to get the USA into a war with Iran.
Trump's first week in office, did not impress at all, it seems as if he is trying to "save" America but with his incompetent threats to Russia, China, Latam, and the entire World, it seems that it will do the opposite - we just witnessed how China, swiftly, introduced its AI R1 model, which demonstrates that all USA's hyped-up "Stargate" project and the ability of US become AI monopoly is nothing more than wishful thinking.
I guess the hubris dies last, and before common sense and mutual cooperation re-enter the USA's political establishment lingo and mindset, it will need to go through a devastating and very painful reality check that is on its way as we speak.
Yes, DeepSeek looks like a swipe at Trump's Big Tech backers who seem more in the front row than the likes of Jamie Dimon and co. Aside from the meme coin scams Trump's attempt to corner BTC could also be in the firing line; particularly given the trash talk about exceeding the twenty-one million limit speaks of forking, which won't end well. But it plays to Trump who thinks that all it takes is his big mouth issuing threats to get his way. After sending tomahawks into Syria I was off the Trump train years ago - he's a windbag, and likely to end up like Biden, licking ice cream cones.
She broadcasts from her car holding up her cell phone to show the articles she will describe. She began describing the economic situation in Austria which shocked me. It sounds worse than the US for the people at the bottom.
I went back this morning and found Part 2
I just watched the first part when she describes that for a family of four, a day of skiing will cost 200 euros in Germany. That does not include food. When she was young, skiing was a regular outing for a family. Then she describes inflation in the costs of food. For me, these simple reports from the field demonstrate the crash of the European economy. This will force even more change in the politics of Europe.
Yes, I've seen her earlier posts but more recently I've caught a couple of these in the car vids discussing the situation in Austria/Germany. Cascading job losses are a fact, rising energy costs, and of course every thing from food to consumer goods, and various govt. charges. I don't think it's working as Klaus imagined, as it's more - you'll own nothing and be miserable.
Don’t you love it when the high-minded geo-politicians attempt to lecture others. That time might be over - you should have been alive 2 centuries ago.
Well, this medium for communications wouldn’t have existed then and I’d either been busy tending olives and grapes in Spain or trying to escape England, provided I’d escaped being a victim of the Napoleonic Wars.
Apologies and thanks for deleting them. Substack had a bit of a glitch - it kept telling me that there was an error! But it was obviously posting them.
If I squint my eyes, I can understand a point of view that questions if Russia's nuclear deterent is, in fact, deterring anything. I think if the situations were reversed the US reaction to having daily missile and drone attacks incoming the US mainland would more resemble Karaganov's strategic thinking than Putin's.
I am amazed that Karaganov is unable to see the difference between the world wars, which were started by the globalists (Great Britain), and the war in Ukraine, which was initiated by the US imperialists. Incidentally, Putin objected to Karaganov's proposals for a nuclear 'settlement' of the conflicts at least twice.
You’ve been watching/reading! I just wrote this comment and will share it again:
Agreed. I must note that RT has altered its headline of RT's version of Karaganov's essay. Instead of "Sergey Karaganov: Russia must help overthrow Western Europe’s dangerous political elites," it now says, "Sergey Karaganov: Peace in Europe requires breaking its imperialist legacy." Nowhere does RT note it's altered/updated its initial version. All that does is further degrade RT's credibility Indeed, the link is even the same. When I informed MoA of the article, I also noted RT's initial dishonesty, which I also note in my article. Guess I'll need to do it again!
Thanks. I watched an interview at Dialogue Works with John Helmer of Dances with Bears, and this piece is timely. What to make of the advance to victory, the costs (as Helmer talks about inflation of food prices, and regions vs Moscow/St. Petersberg), the collective Putin, and the oligarchs. He played up the possible differences between the General Staff and Putin the balancer... but when compared to the combined west's economic malaise things in Russia would seem mild, particularly as no election for President for another few years.
As the current line of resistance collapses, and with no prospect of secondary defensive lines and few recruits, and even Budanov talking imminent collapse, well, it's panic stations.
Thanks for this, Karl. Great article. I agree K is vastly overestimating the role of the Euro stooges in the conflict. They just do what they've been told. His nuke happy attitude is also out of proportion to the situation. First, that's just what the US wants: another excuse for massive escalation. Second, why? When Russia can simply keep grinding the Ukronazis to dust via conventional methods, nukes are so far up the escalation ladder it's crazy. How about smashing Kiev and it's political centers for starters?
IMO, Karaganov is an impatient player, but only one of many. His POV isn’t the only one to be considered. Plus, the question' begged is Does Russia need to alter its policy?
Well this guy looks to me at first blush like a Russian version of a Neo-Con! [I know this is wiki but maybe someone canpoint me to a better profile...]
However despite the bellicosity and his seemingingly willingness to engage in nuclear warfare, his central point here is I think that NATO is messing around in Russia's back yard, and doing so in a way which makes it an existential threat for Russia. So Russia will find it difficult if not impossible to back down. Ball in your court NATO. "You feeling lucky punk?"
As I replied to Ann Watson, he’s a Russian Security Hawk and thinks Russia should more openly use its power to persuade; although like Martyanov, he’s a Europhobe.
As the war stretches out in time, then naturally there are those that want to stop it as soon as possible. Karaganov seems to be thinking that nukes will/could allow a "win", whatever that entails afterwards.
I think he has not accepted that the present "style" of warfare is not only on a battlefield, nor within country limits, but is a WW in the true sense of the term. Where the object is (finally) to eliminate the opposition's ability (and capability) to MAKE war. Including by destroying it's links and connections (ie official or Personal), and including trade with others around it. It is now International in scope, by using the "reach" of the US alphabet soup agencies in places that would benefit from BRI or from being left alone..
As a European I would also like to get rid of some (if not all) of our "dangerous elites" he mentions. The problem as I see it is the weight of traditional subservience to "aristocracies and the rich". (Both National families and nouveau rich, including the chosen, by use of captured media). People no longer think independently, but follow. (TV to TikTok).
I managed to sign in to VK, but I admit I do not use it to any extent. Both your and Peters' sites are reachable. I'm in France so French censorship is mainly against RT or Sputnick.
Bof, I find I may have to learn Russian to appreciate the mass of OTHER VK posters who have left pictures and posts on my site.
My VK problem is with the AI-bot that offers no help with my sign-in issues, so I need to talk with a human to get that resolved. IMO, Europeans have an opportunity to upend the applecart if they keep pushing politically for Euro-wide peace, which is what Putin’s Eurasian Security Structure offers and is why European media want to keep it censored. Remove NATO/EU and Europe gets peace and an opportunity to continue economic development instead of Neoliberal rent extraction.
Correction, VK space WAS available, but seems now that they have been "frozen" for other users. (ie me, when tried to reconnect, plus a"warning" from Paris, or is it supposed to be me that is in Paris? )
thanks karl.. i don't know who this Mr. Karaganov is, or why his thoughts merit any special consideration.... his thinking seems a bit unhinged in fact.... i am sorry to hear of your loss of vk and peters archive too, if this is the case...

PAUCITY OF MINDING LIVELIHOOD & FIXATION ON ARMS & WAR
"Permit me to issue the currency of a nation & I care not who makes its laws", attributed to Mayer Amschel Rothschild entirely describes international control. USA & Canada plus Europe are completely owned, commanded & controlled by Oligarch fake 'money' (Greek 'mnemosis' = 'memory') amnesia. Germany-Austria are still occupied nations with very little economic control. This same Oligarch $$ power structure, has major propaganda indoctrination programs over the past 80 years since WW2 in eastern former Soviet nations & particularly for 35 years since the collapse. These western propaganda boasts are shallow & very temporary preludes to complete Oligarch (multi-Trillionaire $$) submission, but the only ideas circulating, since Soviet self-destruction around 1990. Yet for 73 years, fake 'communism' (L. 'com' = 'together' + 'munus' = 'gift-or-service') aka 'community' captured the study, interest & involvement of people worldwide. Why hasn't Russia, once an inspirational world leader, learned from its mistakes & gone forward with the next step to achieve true 'communism'?
FATAL MISTAKE: The Soviet system of fake one-member/one-vote 'co-operatives' (Latin 'co' = 'together' + 'operatives' = 'stakeholders') did not bring diverse stakeholders together & based in 'ideas' & not performance, did not recognize, account-for & empower the progressive contribution, experience, expertise & decision-making acumen of each individual within each stakeholder group. Top-down fake 'capitalism' (L 'cap' = 'head' = 'collective-intelligence') was mirrored by top-down fake 'communism' imposed by western Oligarch $$ through the leader of the New York Stock Exchange Jacob Schiff's buying of Lev-Davidovich Bronstein (Trotsky) & Germany's financier Warburg buying of Lenin with many millions of 1917 dollars. Refer to Wall-Street & the Bolshevik Revolution by Antony Sutton. https://www.voltairenet.org/IMG/pdf/Sutton_Wall_Street_and_the_bolshevik_revolution-5.pdf
It took Russians & other Soviet bloc countries ~3 generations to realize the mistake of fake communism. I personally was involved for 40 years in co-op development, living 1969-80 in co-op communities (eg. Russian-Doukhobor, German Mennonite, English-Quaker & American-pacifist).
ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY: So let us consider both the 50 nations who joined together as AXIS powers because of their multistakeholder (eg. Founder, Worker, Manager, Supplier & Townspeople) Participatory Corporate ownership laws. Typically, once a business has over 30 employees, the corporation is required by AXIS national law & constitutions to facilitate the investment, ownership & board-representation of stakeholders. Participatory time-based multistakeholder Accounting practices are essential. Https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/c-relational-economy/2-participatory-accounting Hence when people invest & progressively own their corporations, they have invested interest, a stake in its performance & the trust of Delegated-Responsibility within each shop-floor, department or division, the ability to invest in innovation & efficiencies. Hence AXIS nations were & are renowned for their excellent engineered design & product durable performance. Https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/c-relational-economy/8-economic-democracy
German & other 49 nations' recovery from the western Oligarch 'Depression' was due to these practices & such as the Labour-Scripts issued in each company & region to restart their economies, bottom-up, while Oligarch nations of top-down command & control suffered decades longer. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_powers
CAN HUMANITY LEARN FROM ITS PARTIAL MISTAKES? The AXIS 50 Nation MISTAKE being: instead of continuing to succeed most brilliantly at Economic Democracy & livelihood performance as a significant part of the world's population, was to follow the warring-tendency of such as Hitler & Mussolini. Also AXIS industrial & commercial (mostly men) so-called 'democracy', as well as western & eastern Oligarchy do not accounting recognize the core role of the collective Domestic (mostly women) 'Economy' (Gk 'oikos' = 'home' + 'namein' = 'care-&-nurture'), hence the dominance of male aggression instead of Relational Economy. Https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/c-relational-economy
China is perhaps the best example of winning economically with multistakeholder progressive ownership Participatory companies such as Hua-Wei electronic, web & computer technologies. Why do Putin & Russia not understand how western Oligarchy's CIA, Mi6, CSIS etc., used this participatory-economy concept affiliation of AXIS aligned western Ukraine as well as the failure of the fake 'communist' system & memory of the Holodomor to indoctrinate the post Soviet unemployed Ukrainian? Why has western Oligarch shallow propaganda, not been responded to with vibrant post-Soviet thinking & synthesis? Why has there not been thorough 'Debate' (French 'de' = 'undo' + 'bate' = 'the-fight') in west or east so that we might find a working 'economic' synthesis? Again women, given accounting recognition of their expertise, tend to excel at Dialogue & Debate. When people are recorded & held responsible for what they say in Both-sides-now, Equal-time, Recorded & Published Dialogues, reputation is put out into the public & hence becomes more collaborative & engaging. for creating Constructive Agreements, Contract delineation & for Conflict Resolution. Council is both a right & obligation in all humanity's worldwide 'indigenous' (L. 'self-generating') heritage, with the right to call for dialogue & obligation to respond to such calls. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/d-participatory-structure/1-both-sides-now-equal-time-recorded-dialogues

As a former skier, I can say it’s not a sport for the poor. I’ll try to find time to watch at least the first video.
Perhaps we should ask the Russians!
Or, central and South America, telling them what to do!
You produced four comments that were all the same. I deleted the first three.
Perhaps your hypothesis will soon be tested.
Check out what Putin said on the topic today, https://www.rt.com/russia/611796-putin-ukraine-months-sponsors/
Plus, the question' begged is Does Russia need to alter its policy?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergey_Karaganov

A big deal dude
