When the Family Silver has been sold at auction decades ago and you're struggling to make the interest payments alone on burgeoning Public & Private/External Debt, where for decades you've been robbing Peter to pay Paul (the coal allowance for the elderly to pay AZOV salaries), to the fuel a restless public and with no green-shoots on the horizon at least till the end of this century, maybe beyond, YOU NEED A SCAPEGOAT - Russia.
The Public Debt of the US is around $35 Trillion, however, this doesn't take into account unfunded and under-funded liabilities such as future pensions. If they bagged up all their Debt it's closer to $350 Trillion.
When the retiring Cops and other Public Servants receive a letter through the post alerting them that their monthly pension of $120k has been reduced to $60k maybe then we'll see sparks fly.
The can has been kicked to the end of the derivatives and exotic financial instruments yellow-brick road and the ghosts of Christmas Past have called Time Gentleman Please.
Watching Russia with its vast untapped resources grow stronger by the year, spreading its sphere of influence far and wide in countries that THEY colonised or regime-changed and plundered with gay abandon, sometimes brutally, is a Bridge Too Far for The Empire and satellites/satraps.
Finally, few of the Christian churches or chapels, some vast in structure see much of a congregation and that's not all down to the assorted clergy paedos rimming the choirboys. The Church in general has near lost all credibility in not taking a prominent anti-genocide/war stance, dependent like the Presstitutes on Handouts. I expect that the Russian & Other Orthodox Christians have a much better attendance record. I don't see this as a major alienating factor for many in the West, just a handful of the Usual Suspects who in the main are Godless creatures.
Therefore THEY faux despise (only envy & jealousy), scapegoat Russia for its abundant resources and growing sphere of influence which has seriously curtailed their desire to extend their former dominance.
I believe Lavrov's thoughts on exceptionalism are extremely accurate and also relate to colonialism.and the Colonial countries, those in the EU or Europe today, US and some others, which only were superior in their ability to construct weapons of mass destruction, kill people. suppress the others, and force alliances. The Church was one way to do this. My ancestors were serfs in the Old Austro Hungarian Empire, an enslavement in which the Church was also an elite member, which demanded tithes from the peasants. Who gave the elites the right to rape, plunder and pillage other peoples natural resources, over and over which they still are doing, actively or by proxy ? Exceptionalism - the right to do it. As some politician famously said," I did it because I can."
"liberalism" in the west is sometimes total propaganda. Years ago the most important liberal blog was DailyKos.com. I have not been there for at least a decade. Someone on Simplicius76 posted this link to a post on the Ukraine war. In addition, there are several posts within this article from the liberal alternative to X/twitter Blue Sky, bsky. I joined it but have only been there a couple of times and was also shocked, and stunned to see the level of propaganda there. I suggest just clicking on the link and scanning down a little bit.
This is very important for me to realize how far from the "liberals" I have become and the communication gap talking with them is about as large as that between Europe and Russia.
And, someone has done the work showing that liberals have taken over substack. The largest subscriber substack is the intellectual lightweight, American Historian, Heather Cox Richardson. And other have very high numbers and some substacks, like those following covid, have lost revenue because that is no longer such a hot issue.
I never read dailykos as it always seemed out-of-step with reality, and what was at the link confirmed that in spades. As for substack, I read very few other writers as I have very little free time. I slowly accumulate more readers—subscribers and followers—that is now just under 5,000 and ought to be over that by the Gym’s second anniversary in July. I enjoy not having a flea problem of the sort that now plagues MoA. And the level of comments is low enough that I’m able to interact.
I actually met HCR at a book signing. She was advising that we support Biden. This was in late 2023. I lost interest in following or reading her writings.
Now, Sanchez, I am an Orthodox Christian, and moreover of the Russian Orthodox church which believes in the Trinity in Diversity, the exact opposite of what the Imperialist Vatican is trying to do; despite the efforts even now of the Catholic Church, it has not actually succeeded in eradicating Orthodox Christianity, which although in Terrible Conditions, still survives today; sure, many of the churches like the one in Constantinople, where the CIA made a de facto coup against the Patriarch Maximos who deposed him and installed Anastagoras who was an Ex Sufi who worked to devastate the Patriarchate from the Inside, but despite all this, there are still Orthodox churches that do not recognize the Pope as "Leader of Christianity and Heir of Peter" and we still call it as the Latin and Frankish Heresy, we Orthodox. and it does not yet have Control of the Greatest Orthodox Church than the Russian one, and now it is very difficult for it to Get it after the Outbreak of the SVO and especially, after Russia is Rediscovering its True Roots in the Eastern Roman Empire and the Mongol Empire as well as in the Genuine and True Christian Culture Heritage of the Apostles. and it is true, this process has just begun and it will take its time, but it will happen eventually. although the Catholic church is undoubtedly powerful and influential, it is not invincible; it is a Human organization and a Heretical one at that, it is not divine like the True Church of Christ and the Apostles, and the church of Christ has always suffered crises over the Centuries, both serious and minor, and the numbers varied from huge to a handful of Members, so there is nothing new under the sun. and then yes, the Pope has a huge influence in Western civilization, but in Eastern Europe and beyond his influence is diminishing, as well as in Asia, Africa for the rest as well as in Oceania. and today we live in a multipolar world that does not favor the domination of the West and the Vatican, and sooner or later one day someone will denounce the Vatican as a Western supremacist and Nazi church. Jacopo Russo.
Thanks for your long reply. One of my historical hypotheses is Constantinople sending its top scholar monks to the Slavs to provide them with an alphabet so they could be converted to Orthodoxy and thus become a new pole of strength because what e Vatican had planned was sensed and planned against. I haven’t moved any further to deeply research my hypothesis because contemporary events keep me so busy.
Lavrov probably despairs at the NATOkrainian strategy of pipsqueak bully diplomacy by insult, threat and rhetorical bellicosity. What might be a sensible diplomatic response to it?. Ignore and detach.
UN: remove the veto from the Security Council.
"But it [AI] should be used in diplomacy."
AI can’t do diplomacy which, among other abilities, needs sensitivity to allusion and figures of speech. Mechanical knowing is insensitive to anything beyond the text. It can’t do paralanguage nor rhetoric, because it has no mind to know what might be beside the text, nor to be persuaded. It can identify patterns of written characters within words, and patterns of words within texts. Not the meanings of words, nor the topics of texts. A definition of a word isn't its sense, so to AI a definition is literally nonsense.
What he needs is co-ordinate indexing, or faceted classification - retrieving textual items by their relative meanings. "finding what you need". Henry Bliss in the mid 20th century constructed such a system containing hierarchies of topics, that is, what the text is about, with a unique index term for items combining topics from separate hierarchical arrangements. The general organizational pattern for classifying titles in the later Bliss method are: Agents, Operations, Properties, Materials, Processes, Parts, Types, Thing itself. So a book or article may may be about any particular combination of items from these categories, defining/indexing it uniquely. If you know what you want you can find it wherever its index term takes you.
The limitation and strength of such systems is that they require human trained librarians to create the index terms for 'new' books or articles. But then an administrative system responsive to its users' needs is the same. Algorithms can't do it, as we all know from trying to talk to someone by phone or internet who can understand what you're trying to achieve.
For an AI, discursive items of whatever size, only refer to other discursive items of whatever complexity. Thus AIs cannot refer to the real world that we live in but they don't. When an AI encounters realities it can't perceive or know, it confabulates - makes up a representation of these unattainable realities from its existing textual structures, like a person with brain damage in their, for example, primary sensory projection areas in the occiput who can't perceive what's in front of them, so makes up a plausible description of what they ought to be from their secondary association cortices, or areas of further abstraction. They mentally induce from their generalities to the missing particulars.
many good insights and bits of info i was unaware of.. thanks karl!

Some excellent thoughts here and realities ! I enjoyed reading this.
I made an error with regard to the annual and not monthly Public Service pensions.
Only God knows what's lurking behind those pensions invested in exotic instruments of nothingness in the private sector.
The contents of the offshore tax havens need to go poof—a mulit-trillion-dollar hack.

The Jerusalem Post: "Ukraine's Azov Regiment visits Israel: 'Mariupol is our Masada' "
A battle cry of the jewish state & lobby: "Glory Stepan Bandera and Nuland-Kagan!"
the Tragedy of the
Slavic Peoples, but it is also True where there are shadows, there are also Lights;
for Example Vladimir the Baptist and Yaroslav the Wise, the Saints
Boris and Gelb Cited, the Holy Prince and Grand Duke of Kiev Alexander
Nevsky, Ivan Kalinka, Sergius of Radionez, Ivan Kalinka and the pious Tsar
Dmitri who was an example of Faith not to mention Tsar Basil
III who proclaimed Russia the Third Rome and successor of the Second
Rome, Patriarch Emogenes, the Pious Tsar Alexander III and his
Son Nicholas the Last Tsar of Russia together with His Family and the
Martyrs of the Faith; it is true, Slavs kill each other when
the Dark Times come, very often caused also by Foreign
powers that use the Slavs themselves to kill each other to
prevent them from uniting. but there is also the Light of Holiness among
the Slavs, and when they manage to overcome their divisions, they
become very strong and practically invincible and can defeat enemies
much stronger than them, as also demonstrated by Russia Itself; it is
true, there is
so much history of Cruelty and Impiety, but also of Holiness and
of True Genuine Christian Love. now, the History of the Slavs reminds me
of the history of My Country; the Italians in the end, were not
different at all from the Slavs from a political point of view;
they slaughtered each other and we hated each other no less
than the Slavs did, we were more refined and less barbaric, at least
in appearance, but we were and still are, more cruel and
manipulative than the Slavs themselves and even worse we collaborate in the
Discord between the Slavic tribes and States. and even now Italy and
there is a strong parochialism and desire for separation from the
Italian state, because Italy de facto, has never been a united state and
the Reunification of Italy is still recent. Generally All
Human States have the sides of Light and Darkness, Holiness and Sin,
Skeletons in the Closet. because all Humans are immersed in
sin and then we were redeemed by the Son of God, and only Jesus
Christ is Free of Sin; as the Holy Fathers of the Church said,
none of Us is Worthy of the Light of God, yet God Forgives us and
admits us to Heaven despite the evil we do, and loves us
despite everything and wants us to be free from sin. and then also
the Slavs when they want, can shine like a star
shining even more than the Europeans and
even the Asians do. in general, as Jesus Christ said and I do not
trouble, he said "Do not worry or be troubled; all these events have
been predicted and had to happen by order of the Father" so he said and
I know that They Had to Happen. because we must not only look at the
Negative Side of Life; there are Dark and horrible moments that seem that the
World Is About to End, and bright and wonderful moments that seem
that they will not end mine. you have to know how to self-criticize and trust in
the Lord, and wait for the Black storm that is now between Russia and
Ukraine to stop ending. and I pray for all the Souls of both
Contenders so that Peace finally comes between Russia and Ukraine and
that the Brother Countries return to being one People and to Live in
Peace in Serenity. Jacopo Russo

IMO it would be possible to train an AI as a diplomatic aide as Lavrov suggests, but it won’t be available anytime soon.
A real diplomat.
