When the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow fossil fuel for electrification generators remains a necessary component, although this region also has thermal potential for heating, interesting project.

China current production of silicon and solar related products is 6000 tons per year compared to Russia of about 580 although this project could in the future give China a run on this market I suppose.

Russia biggest advantage is its tremendous reserves of natural gas that many experts claim will grow to become the leading source of power into the future including nuclear energy which Russia has already invested in particularly in their portable nuclear floating platforms.

The current goal for nuclear power is 25% of the overall mix. The article on Arctic development had a photo of a wind farm planted in the snowy, windy Arctic I thought of including. And there's a great expanse of area suitable for solar that includes much of Central Asia too. The work of the Russian mathematicians should be banned in the US, following the logic of the Sanctions against Russia. That will teach us.

That should have a profound impact on many US algorithms and curtail some of that much hyped AI.

The Bolshoi Theatre is still banned in the US, even from International Broadcasts.

All in support of democracy in Ukraine. The mind boggles.
