Carlson did a good explanation of his reasons for the interview, covering the bases of who paid for it was a good idea, not that it will prevent the usual haters.
Now the question is: what questions will he ask? Does he know enough to ask the really pointed questions, so that he can get Putin to fully expound on the history of the conflict from 2014 - indeed WWII - on. That alone would be eye-opening to most of the ignorant US electorate who don't understand the history going back to WWII.
The Putin interview won't be a "game changer" - that idiotic term - but it will be interesting.

Carlson might try to bait Putin into culture war topics, if putin’s smart he’ll mostly avoid that. He only needs to come across as smart, thoughtful and humane. From afar it’s hard not to conclude that he actually is those things so it shouldn’t be hard. He’s likely to be a big hit among US conservatives and if they talk about Palestine it might be hard for young people to not ask whether Putin is such a bad guy.
