Karl, your work is tireless and much appreciated. My interests have a somewhat different direction but I share a recent finding that quite stunned me as someone who researches the linkages around Schopenhauer. As you may know, Schopenhauer was the first significant western philosopher to have studied eastern thought (at least to the extent it could be studied at that time). He had an unparalleled influence on subsequent artists, writers and composers. The discovery: at the time of his death, the composer Richard Wagner (“Ring of the Nibelungen”, a visionary cycle of 4 operas which are even more vital in 2023 than they were at the time, roughly 1865), was working on ideas for a final opera based on the life of the Buddha.

Thanks for your reply. Musicians are often brilliant beyond their craft. Thelonious Monk and physics and other jazzmen, and certainly composers. Thanks for your participation here!
