In my humble opinion, Trump has never been honest about peace in Ukraine.

the problem as i see it is, not only is the UK media and establishment not interested in what russia has to say, they intentionally omit or sabotage anything that russia-lavrov or putin - do say!!! in this type of atmosphere - much like the fascist and totalitarian atmosphere of germany in the late 30s - there is no room for a conversation or for the general public to be given a balanced perspective here.. in fact, the opposite is the desire and goals of the UK media and establishment - i am very sorry to say... see alex krainers article today on this very topic!!

Reported in Guardian in typical fashion

Speaking at an ultra-nationalist conference in Moscow, Lavrov argued that the Vatican would be an inappropriate venue, saying it would be “not quite comfortable” for two Orthodox nations to meet in a Catholic venue. He repeated some of Russia’s widely debunked justifications for launching the war, claiming that talks in the Vatican were not appropriate because one of the war’s root causes was Ukraine’s alleged oppression of Orthodox believers.

“One of the root causes is the course towards elimination of the Ukrainian Orthodox church,” Lavrov said. “I believe the Vatican would not be quite comfortable to host delegations from two Orthodox countries under such circumstances

In a string of hawkish remarks, Lavrov also signalled that Moscow remains committed to regime change in Ukraine, questioning Zelenskyy’s legitimacy and referring to the elected Ukrainian government as a “junta”.

Lavrov said Moscow would not allow Russian-speakers in Ukraine to remain under the rule of Zelenskyy, adding that the simplest way to settle the conflict would be for the international community to demand that Ukraine cancel laws discriminating against Russian-speakers.

The foreign minister also questioned Zelenskyy’s legitimacy to sign any peace agreement, adding that new elections would be the most “appropriate” way to determine who is entitled to represent Ukraine in future negotiations.

'ultra-nationalist', debunked', 'alleged', 'hawkish', etc etc. trigger words in propaganda piece.

The conference was held under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Academy, “Historical Southern Russian Lands. National Identity and Self-Determination of Peoples,” from which I’ve yet to see any transcript or news report, although I won’t be looking for one in the immediate future. Lavrov and the FM did hold a presser surrounding the release of a statement concerning the massive series of drone attacks aimed at Russian civilian targets, which I’ll report on later today after my Friday chores are accomplished. Sputnik does have a report on that in English, https://sputnikglobe.com/20250523/russia-calls-out-eu-and-western-war-pushers-behind-ukraine-chaos-1122118769.html

The politicians of the decadent Western empire, through their lackey press, have a shameless way of turning the tables, putting the judge in the dock and the criminal in the judge's place. Anyone who follows the events from the beginning realizes the inconsistency of this farce. However, driven by Goebbels's motto "a lie repeated a thousand times...", they persist in their ridiculous purpose of turning the world upside down. It's like watching a naked idiot in the rain endlessly repeating: "I'm not getting wet, I'm not getting wet."

How long will Russian leaders keep harping on redoing the European security arrangement with Russia as a party to it? At least since Stalin, which is 70 years. And every time the answer is NEIN! The UN is a useless tool for advancing this action. I have to hear any western leader commit to bringing Russia into a European security program. Russia seems to have no new rabbits to pull from its hat and so will tilt at windmills and the wars will go on. Mind you, I don't blame Russia for trying but it's beginning to look like a pathetic jilted lover that just won't let go.

When the SMO began, I opined Russia would need to forge its own Eurasian Security Structure in tandem with its many Eurasian partners, and my assessment has yet to change. This situation remains odd since Russia remains an OSCE member as this Statement by Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE Alexander Volgarev at the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, 22 May 2025 published by Russia’s MFA shows. With the Outlaw US Empire likely to leave NATO, the EU will fracture further, and this new security structure will be attractive to some European nations. Yes, the entire process is complex and made more complicated because the future is unknown. That said, IMO the overall direction is clear, although time as always will tell. https://mid.ru/ru/foreign_policy/news/2019380/

Don't count on the US leaving NATO during Trump's term. Although it would be a nice gesture toward humanity in general and America specifically.

The Soviets needed the US to stay in western Europe and Russia needs the US to remain. European NATO needs to fear whoever is holding the whip or they will re-arm to defend against that there Ruskie aggression and promptly begin fighting each other if not properly supervised.

As infantile acting as Trump appears at times I believe he is viscerally against war, if not the MIC. Compared to what passes for leadership in the rest of NATO and the EU, Trump is the Magnus Politicus of the West. Our Cicero of the idiocracy.

Russians already reoriented to the East. According to the latest poll, 60% of the population of the RF don’t think about themselves as European.

Who wants to be in a relationship with the hallucinating schizophrenics who believe that the solution to all of their problems is dividing Russia into 200 small states (EUs Kaila Kallas and Polish Andrzej Duda).

Enough of strait jackets and ambulances for the European elites might be a solution.
