i don't know how this plays out, but it is off the charts for sure... we are in uncharted waters, lol.. this reminds me of how the usa has been grabbing russian nationals around the globe also in an illegal manner.. the level of abuse the usa leadership is imposing on the rest of the planet is quite pronounced, but i suppose it can get a lot worse...

i was very happy to see blinkin rebuffed by the chinese on his last trip... who the fuck does the usa think it is? don't try to answer that question, lol..

Have you seen the meme Pepe Escobar posted on his Telegram channel yesterday, comparing Blinken's reception to Assad's one in China?

It tells more than 1,000 words!

It was devastating! In fact, I was thinking of doing a review of Team Biden policy toward China and its massive failure.

no, in fact i haven't!! i don't follow many telegram channels...

I think he's referring to this one, https://t.me/rocknrollgeopolitics/11062

although it might also be this one from today and without a separate URL:

"The message from China to Exceptionalistan is now quite clear.

Choose between stability and a "downward spiral".

YOUR downward spiral.

Strong, decisive policies on de-dollarization are coming soon - as early as this year.

And way beyond BRICS+.

China's historical demonstration of patience suggests these policies will come over progressive stages of severity.

But we're no longer talking about decades.

It's a matter of a few years.

The Sino-American win-win cooperation ship has sailed long ago and is long gone beyond the horizon.

Exceptionalistan is now trapped in a sinking ship of its own making.

Bye bye."

it is one hell of a picture no matter what... too bad the 3 main wire services don't run with that, but it would be the end of the empire as we know it!

Ok, I will try to fit it into my next article. ;)

I also provided a translation of the same Telegram post with a few notes yesterday: https://open.substack.com/pub/geopolitiq/p/dmitry-medvedev-on-russian-response

Your informational article is good and between us the word on this ought to get better distribution. Pepe Escobar also picked it up, while Medvedev's Telegram noted close to one million views as of this morning. Several members of Russia's government have commented and said some form of action will occur in response, but here we have the legal basis for that response. Both Hudson and Desai subscribe to my substack, and I hope they take this topic and discuss it in their next Geopolitical Economic Hour.

The Duma should vote to revoke the Treaty with Russia for purchase of Alaska, then send a delegation over to reclaim the title.

Expand full comment

The "delegation" consisting of at least one Russian Army. Yes, a nice thought, but Russia already has more than enough land to develop--many Alaska's worth without the headaches.

In this video short the Duma speaker says that Alaska is Russian land and it should be reclaimed as a result of seizure of Russian Assets:

There are many Russians that think selling Alaska to the Americans was a great mistake.

The US is caught with its pants down. All the US treasuries China holds could get dumped quickly, collapsing the market, and probably the dollar which is ridiculously overvalued. US treasury sales are encountering difficulties and the fed already cannot lower the interest rate without crashing the bond market. The Chinese have been cautious so far, only selling them off at a rate that does not cause chaos, but at some point they will decide the rest are a write off anyway. They have to do it in a way that does not turn other players like the Saudis against them because it will destroy much of their "wealth"... but they will figure it out, maybe letting them sell first. That may be enough as other bond/dollar/stock holders may panic even before China makes a move. I just saw a Telegram post about African and Middle East countries pulling their gold out of US already. China is playing the long game and will wait until they have a new international financial infrastructure in place and can replace any critical goods they now get from the West. They also know that the US might just implode on its own, probably at election time when the garbage fire rages completely out of control.

The neocons will not be making any more trips to China. It is the US's turn for humiliation.

I really have a problem with this claim…sorry, Karl: “Note that there’s no differentiation between citizens and state as the citizens according to the Empire’s dogma on democracy elect and approve of what’s being done in their name.” — isn’t this used by Israel bombing Gaza that Palestinians have voted in Hamas, so they are all guilty? Sometimes generalisation does not work well. Or, maybe, I have missed something?

Expand full comment

First and most important, when Hamas won the 2006 elections over the PA, the West said the election was fraudulent and they wouldn't accept the results despite evidence that the elections were very fair. Then there's the longstanding dogma about democracies versus authoritarian governments. If you saw the document I provided in "Past Info Visible Today," you'll know that the USA isn't a democracy at all as no vote was every held to wantonly violate the UN Charter and thus the US Constitution. And when you look at how 1949's National Security Act altered the nature of the entire government, it put entirely unaccountable powers into control that began the march to what one historian writing in1980 called "Friendly Fascism." Recall that the Empire selectively uses terms to fit whatever its interests are at the time; the Kosovo/Crimea scenarios constantly cited by Lavrov are a case in point. What did the Empire say about Putin's reelection? It was a fraud. Was any evidence produced as proof for that? No.

If a vote were held here to approve of the Forever Wars policy versus trying to eliminate poverty or provide universal healthcare, the Wars policy would lose. But such a vote is never allowed to happen as policy continuity is the reality of our one party-two factions political system that's ruled by corruption that was engineered into the system long ago. And then there's BigLie Media whose job is to deceive the public into supporting policies they'd never support if a fair hearing was allowed. The Bill of Rights looks great until you get your head smashed by a police truncheon while peacefully demonstrating against government policy. Organized dissent isn't allowed to take hold; it's brutally quashed by the power of the state and BigLie Media will never tell you what's really happening in that regard.

Oh boy, and as I replied, I started to read this article and this claim made me laugh: “The problem with historians is that we are always going to say it depends on the context”. So, guilty as charged 😎 Anyway, it is an interesting article, maybe of interest?

Yes, of course, I agree. And I would add than nothing new is here, but it is really well put together. In short, the context is always important. I still remain unconvinced by the claim that citizens are responsible. It would be great, because that would imply a possibility of change ….but, as it is…. Thank you for your reply.

Personally I think what Medevev is suggesting would be a mistake, that is an asymetric but effective tit for tat illegal asset theft. Of course both the USA and Russia dress this up as being allowed under their laws, but the game is not about the law but about securing future investment and having an internationally secure financial system. If Russia was to expropriate private assets then they would make the same mistake that the US/EU/UK are making and for all the same reasons. No, I think that Medevev's suggestion would be a huge backward step in the move towards a BRICS currency and the US$ replacement objective. Tactical short term PR gain at the cost of a long term strategic failure.

Good point. BRICS+ FMs meet again in early June. Lots of work ongoing with Sherpas and sous-Sherpas. IMO, those within the Empire are too shortsighted, greedy, and too filled with hubris to understand what they are doing to themselves as no nation can trust the West's financial system anymore to be secure and honest. One of Russia's main assets is that it's exactly the opposite when it comes to the rule of law regarding property and contracts--the Grain Deal showed the latter in spades to the Global Majority.

Time to get serious.

A recent wsj article explained that Germany was unwilling to support this theft for fear of WW claims. The authors never did mention that most of the Russian assets to be seized by the Outlaw Empire belong to Russians, not Russia. Worth noting.

Expand full comment

Most Russian state property within the Outlaw US Empire was already stolen at the end of Obama and then during Trump's reign--the consulates and other diplomatic-related properties. The human rights report has its own section on property rights. Much basis for lawfare is laid out in that report.
