It’s taken 50 years of Terrible Economic

Theory to gut the prosperity of the commons in America for the rich to be richer ,and a Forever War going nowhere to drive the country into the ground.

It’s hard to see a fast turnaround here.

Blame Trump?

Articulating how and why these policies are so rotten creates the social politic for a change.

The people of the usa are captured, their congress is captured, their courts and justice system captured and their election machinery is firmly in the service of the oligarchy. There is really only one way out and that requires revolutionary thinking about their day to day economic and political and social transactions. David Graeber has set out some ideas and the courageous talks by Richard Wolff and others give a solid foundation on which to project revolutionary thinking into action for change. This is not going to happen overnight but some mighty creative organising and action leading up to the mid terms is the beginning.

Thos outside the usa can only encourage and take small actions that might contribute. That is how apartheid was defeated in South Africa - we all joined the force for peace and freedom and - we boycotted like there was no tomorrow.

Yes, boycotting everything made by American corporations regardless where they’re assembled. And don’t use dollars for anything except to buy rubles and yuan.

Can the showman Trump pull off historical peace deals this week? All irons are in the fire. Ukraine. Gaza. Iran. India-Pakistan.

Jeffery Sachs on Judge Napolitano says there is a chance to pull off all 4 in his interview with Judge Napolitano. This is going to be an eventful week.

If any of these lead to peace it will be a good week. But any or all peace efforts could fail. Here is a thoughtful comment posted on MOA today,.

"Most of you do not understand the Deep Politics angle to all this. The reality is that this war provides the West with a path towards more control over its own populations which is, as far as Europe is concerned, now a reality. Europe will move away from democratic socialism to a permanent war "state" copying the USA which has used "threats" (always fake) to keep the population in line. Russia is just a convenient Orwellian enemy for the West to institute full Orwellian control. I'm being simplistic but that's the general outline of the plan more or less agreed on by the oligarchs of the West, i.e., "the Empire."

I think it is likely to fail but the Russians must succeed in its gradual roll westward. Trump probably has good intentions but the powers of the POTUS are much exaggerated. Washington was a snakepit before Trump came along and will continue to be as long as the Deep State has control over the covert operatives who threaten and bribe politicians through the use of force."

Chris has always written good comments. He’s correct about the EU Nazis. I have no optimism over Trump’s trip. He lies about almost everything.

Trump in Saudi Arabia for trade conference today. Do his compatriots on this trip support the investment in military hardware needed to fight a ground war? And, are Europeans going to go all out to build world class military hardware diverting money from the citizens on the home front?

Where will Saudi Arabia invest?

Hi-tech, AI, finance. No manufacturing.

Look at the people accompanying Trump for the US-Saudi Investment Forum:

Elon Musk, OpenAI, Nvidia, AMD, BlackRock, Citi…

This is the real American economy. Not cars, steel, fridges or shoes.

I don’t see what the Saudis would want aside from the freedom to trade with China and Russia which make things it wants.

Slightly off topic but relevant to us gymnasts: https://meaninginhistory.substack.com/p/tulsi-taking-charge

Interesting but I will wait for tangible results beyond saving Trumps rs from a workover in Yemen.

Signing a deal/agreement, any deal with the US is about as useful as entering into a contract with someone under the age of 18.
