Here in the US there is a Medical Freedom movement which among other things has backed programs like "let Doctors be Doctors" which has passed legislators in a few Red States. This means that doctors can prescribe FDA approved medicines without penalty. This came up because during the covid "pandemic" life saving medicines like ivermectin and hydroxycholorine were blocked by regulator institutions,. This medical freedom movement is mostly right wing and has been raising alarms about WHO plans to take over the global health system and be a totalitarian system to deploy things like universal ID and electronic currency. The WHO treaty was backed by WEF and US Government.

Here is what happened at UN today. This is text from a tweet on twitter.

‼️UN assembly meeting Sept 18-22, 2023

11 countries BROKE THE SILENCE so there will not be a unanimous consent of the draft political declarations on the SDG Summit, the High-level meeting on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, the High-level meeting on universal health coverage, and the High-level meeting on the fight against tuberculosis.

Those countries are Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Eritrea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nicaragua, the Russian Federation, the Syrian Arab Republic, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.

“The legitimate concerns of a large number of developing countries have been ignored. Hence, it is our duty to express our strong concerns on the unacceptable way in which this situation unfolded, running in clear contradiction with the spirit of multilateralism and the overall goal of “leaving no one behind”.

I expect Global South nations to be far more forceful at this year's UNGA. I imagine Blinken got rebuffed yesterday.

A very thoughtful, comprehensive statement that will help participants deal with the issues.

I wonder what the US statement is? Karl, it might be useful to post that so we can see the difference.

It seems to me that this statement can be an educational tool for many of the diplomats - a step to creating common ground.

While it is a small item in their long list, the WHO is a major issue because of their proposed power grabs linked with being able to override sovereignty, set policy, electronic records and electronic currency. The World Economic Forum is involved in this.

Yes, the WHO and several other vital UN agencies have undergone what Putin and Lavrov describe as "privatization" and are prime candidates for reform along with the UNSC. As for your question, I did a search and the first hit I got was from USAID, then I just went to the State Department's website where there's nothing about UN policy, which is incredible, although believable. The only item is a note about Blinken's attendance at the UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit. There's absolutely nothing akin to Russia's long document, so there's nothing to compare. There's not even a link to the US's UN delegation website, which I assume exists--it does. There we find "Remarks by Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield during a UN Press Briefing Previewing the United States’ Participation and Priorities for UNGA78" and transcript, which is a howler, https://usun.usmission.gov/remarks-by-ambassador-linda-thomas-greenfield-during-a-un-press-briefing-previewing-the-united-states-participation-and-priorities-for-unga78/

What follows is the USA's substitute for a complete policy picture like Russia's:

"On the topic of High-Level Week, I would like to preview the United States’ priorities for the 78th UN General Assembly. This year, we have three core areas of focus.

"First, we will work to strengthen partnerships – including with countries we sometimes disagree with. This is something Secretary Blinken spoke powerfully about yesterday. As the Secretary outlined, we are advancing critical partnerships – bilaterally and through the multilateral system, including here at the United Nations. These partnerships will help us tackle global challenges and advance the Sustainable Development Goals – which is the world’s blueprint for a more just, more peaceful, and more prosperous future.

"We are just a few days away from the SDG Summit. This is a huge moment for the world. And during this summit, the United States will reaffirm our commitments to all 17 Sustainable Development Goals – and we will discuss tangible ways we’re working to meet them.

"I’ll also note that, tomorrow morning, I will deliver a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations on our vision for sustainable development. This speech will focus on how we avoid the cynicism trap, as we work to advance the SDGs – at home and abroad. I hope you will have a chance to tune in.

"Second, during this year’s UNGA, we will work to uphold the principles enshrined in the UN Charter – including respect for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of all Member States. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it struck at the heart of the UN Charter. We will continue to pursue a just and durable peace – in line with the UN Charter’s core principles. And we will continue to stand with Ukraine – for as long as it takes

"As we approach the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we will also redouble our efforts – working alongside our partners – to defend the fundamental freedoms of all.

"Third, we will continue to push for reforms to the multilateral system – reforms that will make international institutions more effective, inclusive, transparent, accountable, and fit for purpose in this century.

"As in years past, leaders from across our government, including President Biden and Secretary Blinken, will be here for High-Level Week. The President will meet with world leaders to discuss collaboration on shared priorities. And he will address the General Assembly – where he will reaffirm our country’s leadership in countering threats to international peace and security, protecting human rights, and advancing global prosperity and development. I know the White House will have more to say about the President’s itinerary in the coming days – so stay tuned.

"As President Biden often says, right now, we are at an inflection point. And the actions we take over the next week, and in the months ahead will be consequential.

"So let us come together to end senseless conflicts in Sudan, Ukraine, and elsewhere – and to make progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, to defend the UN Charter and human rights, and to ensure our international system can meet today’s most pressing challenges."

It ought to be easy to see why I call it a Howler.

Russia has said many times that the West is not agreement capable.

Is the West intellectually capable?

I am going to go totally off topic, but it is related.

Meryl Nass is an MD in Maine who has practiced medicine for 45 years without a complaint and is also an expert on bio weapons including expertise on anthrax. She was outspoken about the Covid-19 policy and ran a telemedicine practice which included prescriptions of ivermectin and hydroxycholorine. They were watching her to take her down to show doctors what happens when you don't follow the CDD, FDA, etc. They used the state medical board to pull her license and they had the final part of her hearing today and I spent 4 to 5 hours listening to it. She now has a first amendment suit against the members of the board and they didn't have any evidence.

She did lie. She had an elderly man who was in bad condition, late at night with bad weather, and since almost all pharmacies don't dispense ivermectin, she lied to say that he had Lyme disease and he got the prescription. Probably saved his life.

Because they were watching her, and they had the lie in hand, they went out to the international press about a Maine doctor who lied to prescribe ivermectin. You don't get an international press release unless you have planned the attack.

Today members of the medical board went around and around in circles to get very small things that they could point to (possibly looking over their shoulders about being in court themselves) -- it was a drama of a bureaucratic collapse in real time. Her attorney had been a district attorney and a criminal prosecutor and said that their findings would not hold up in court. Her court costs are funded by Robert Kennedy Jr's Children's Health Defense organization.

I bring this up because I can imagine these self assured state department or military people or others sitting around and feeling so proud to be in the presence of other talented people and doing world class problem solving.

I am not convinced that the US understands diplomacy

I am not convinced that the US understands how to work out global problems. Morris Berman in 2008 published "Dark Ages America: The Final Phase of Empire." He claims that the empire is going down and nothing can stop it. Also, when an empire is going down, it choses leaders that accelerate the fall.

I am impressed with the Russians and if I, with no background in international relations or many fields, if I can see their intellectually sound formulation of complex issues, one would think that other countries who were being oppressed by the "rules based order" can see that the Russians are moving in a good direction.

I imagine that US folks with their MBAs and top colleges and promotion in administrative ranks, and other tokens of achievement: sitting around in meetings like those medical board members so full of themselves but without any awareness of what is going on around them.

o make her an example to doctors that the Medical Board will take away your license

sorry - had a fragment at the end - substack does not permit editing or I would delete it. Karl - if you can delete that line or this correction that would be fine

As for the content of your comment, the contexts could be linked for what's at work in both realms are Yes People who ultimately lack scruples/values and will do whatever it takes to climb the ladder as the indoctrinated goal drummed deeply into the minds of most here in Fantasyland is status and stardom. And so we get adults playacting like children and lying to get ahead. Such people qualify as "Less Than Zero" which was a late 1980s film about cocaine addiction. The addiction to stardom and status is just as hard. Think Madonna, En Vogue, and most of modern Hollywood. Reagan was the worst, although Clinton gave him a run. Obama's on the same sordid plane.

Throughout US history, the Federal government's foreign policy has been almost exclusively unilateral, in that the USG doesn't negotiate; it dictates. And that's what it keeps on trying to do.

A lengthy screed, alright, but Lavrov will have gotten everyone's attention early on with his para. #2--a shot across the bow of "The Rules-Based Order". All nice and legal the way Putin likes things.
