Thanks for Hudson’s Global Economic History in 2.5 hrs.

I had no idea a Sunday Sermon could be such a treat!

That's the goal. I always felt the aim of attending church was to exit happy and motivated by new insight, but those days and their impression were many years ago. In the interim, I've studied many religions and social customs, and their commonality is the gathering together that rejuvenates the connectivity between people, for we are social animals, and being atomized into increasingly smaller, distant units isn't in our nature. And that's why the unrelenting assault to Divide and Rule is aimed at us.

That was the most positive and uplifting article I read in a long long time. A call to arms.

You must be joking. A call to arms is definitely not in anyone's interest here in America.

Rallying people together to join arms against the forces of oppression is what's being called for--connectivity that leads to solidarity of action. I watched a US Air Force sergeant go off on social media about what plagues the USA, and it was all Boy Scout USA basic values being destroyed--nothing anyone with that sort of background could call radical. Rather, it's a POV shared by millions who want neither Biden or Trump or what Washington has become. The call to arms today differs little from that made in the 1880s or at the beginnings of the 1930s for the reasons for the maladies plaguing the nation are essentially the same--Abuse by the Money Power.

Examples of the meaning of the phrase "a call to arms" according to Cambridge dictionary;

something that asks or encourages a group of people to take action against something:

- The song gave an anthem to the civil rights movement and served as a call to arms for women everywhere.

- He sounds a call to arms to book lovers asking them to keep independent book shops open.

Hope it clarifies my use of the expression. English is not my first language.

Your correct Lars as Karl did also expound on that with me in a earlier response. Although the expression 'Call to Arms' could easily be misconstrued as an armed insurrection something clearly no one wants here in America. Btw please excuse my miscariturzation of the english language as I am after all an American.

Excellent, as usual. The matra join in the chant reminds me of a song I liked in the late 80s. High time to organize the oppressed mass in the belly of the beast!

Frankly the American msm voiting class are not inclined to organize outside of the 'official' party narratives. As far as the remaining American masses are concerned time and circumstances will tell.

No disrespect intended, John. I was responding to a comment that sounded distinctly pessimistic about the prospect of radical change in the US, so I thought a little science might cure it.

Not inclined, historically (read post WW2 boom period). The conditions are changing pretty rapidly, John. Conditions change and it changes the people, as history has shown time and again. The "American masses" are not a subject frozen in time, but like all things in the material world, constantly changing with their environment.

I don't need to reread post ww2 baby boom period, I am a baby boomer. If you wish to have a conversation with me I only ask that you please remain sensible and not disrespectful by insulting my intelligence. There is no doubt in most anyone's mind that the social economic conditions here are changing at un alarming rate of which the repercussions concerning the 'american masses' has yet to be seen. Your comment does echo my sentiments where America is heading towards a critical juncture of political uncertainty.

Yep. It's all right even to the end: 'become an agitator'.

What i don't like is the omission of 'become a responsible citizen of a democracy'.

To jump from a responsible calm peaceful citizen to a wild riot bound agitator is too great a leap.

Yet it is what is all too frequently advocated.

And it is just about ALL that is ever advocated.

I reckon well before going to that extreme we need to become 'democrats' - meaning citizen of a democracy, NOT meaning members of that 'democrat' American political party.

And what I'm talking about is quite simple but I find it very hard to get it into one or two sentences but all messages today have to be slogans, memes, catchphrases, 'one or two sentences' don't they?

I'll try.

It's like this: YOU are supposedly running the country. Right? Govt of the people for the people etc. ?

But practical limitations means it has to be done by someone who represents you.

Represents YOU.

Now how can he/she do that if they never hear from you?

Never see you?

Have no idea what you think or want?

Never get any instructions from you?

You show no interest in their daily doings?

You mainly don't even know their names?

Their email addresses?

Their phone numbers?

Nor do you have any idea of the daily bread and butter of such people: sitting listening to bills and going through them with a fine tooth comb making tiny alterations to some words here, a phrase there, a clause, a subclause.. etc.

How can you govern the country when you do that?

It is like saying you will have plumbing by the people of the people and for the people.

But it must be done by reps.

So how's it work if you get a plumber in for a job and you do it like we do nowadays when WE are not supposed to be doing the plumbing: he is.

So we show him the job and then leave him to it and have nothing further to do with him until we get the bill ?

Which is a direct parallel to our social political scene for that's exactly what we do and it is entirely inappropriate.

IF we are responsible for the plumbing then we'd know what was involved. And we would instruct the man on how we want it done. And we would monitor his progress. And we would want reports from him. And we would even want 'wider' reports from him: keep us appraised of latest developments in the field of plumbing.

Do you get my drift?

Yeah, we both want a government that governs for the people, not some select few. In order to do that, the public MUST be involved--that's how the people actually got somewhere those two times before as I mentioned. Unless you favor violent revolution. I seek a way to avoid that and always have.

We are no where near a critical mass short of another major covid type event. Ukraine is not Vietnam and there are no anti war Jane Fonda's.

Americans for the most part are in a type of coma today and it will take something earth shattering to get them mobilized. This is not the1960-70s anymore as today the two parties that could make a difference are Iron Clad Closed Shops 'even at the State and Local Level' at least where I reside. Today's 'Police State' censorship, homeland security with its Federal State and Local Law Enforcement all working together in lock step. It will take nothing short of a huge socal uprising to reach such a critical mass necessary to force such a change.

I thank my wife for snooping in places I wouldn't have looked and shown me what she's found--ordinary people sounding off and ridiculing the Narrative. Even in our sparsely populated region, people are out with placards in every town weekly. Ya gotta have a conversation before you can gain solidarity. It's that simple.
