During my youth much of my early educational orientation was centered in Buddhists theology and and Asian customs, where I practiced these teachings within a Japanese- American lay organization some years ago.

I was at that time a student of Daisaku Ikeda.

Will the West ever accept the East's wisdom, mature and evolve? Frankly, I have little confidence that will happen anytime soon, and the world will divide into two Blocs. My exposure to Eastern thought began at a young age prior to high school in the late 1960s. Sanchezism is a hybrid of East and West that seeks harmony and wisdom. I once signed my emails and ended my list-serve comments with the following sayings: Knowledge is Power & Gnosis=Logos.

Karl, your work is tireless and much appreciated. My interests have a somewhat different direction but I share a recent finding that quite stunned me as someone who researches the linkages around Schopenhauer. As you may know, Schopenhauer was the first significant western philosopher to have studied eastern thought (at least to the extent it could be studied at that time). He had an unparalleled influence on subsequent artists, writers and composers. The discovery: at the time of his death, the composer Richard Wagner (“Ring of the Nibelungen”, a visionary cycle of 4 operas which are even more vital in 2023 than they were at the time, roughly 1865), was working on ideas for a final opera based on the life of the Buddha.
